Fergie being a dickhead
The f*cking balls on this man
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19774393
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said the four minutes of injury time added to his team's defeat by Tottenham was an "insult".
Clint Dempsey scored the winner as Spurs won 3-2 to win at Old Trafford for the first time in 23 years.
Ferguson said: "It was disappointing because the record has been fantastic.
"They gave us four minutes [injury time], that's an insult to the game. It denies you a proper chance to win a football match."
Andre Villas Boas's side went two goals ahead as Jan Vertonghen scored within two minutes and Gareth Bale added another in the first half, before a frantic period after the break where three goals came in two minutes.
Nani reduced the deficit but a minute later Dempsey made it 3-1 and, although Shinji Kagawa closed the gap once more, Spurs defended stoutly to hang on.
Ferguson told BBC Sport: "There were six substitutions, the trainer came on, so that's four minutes right away and the goalkeeper must have wasted about two or three minutes and they took their time at every goal kick.
"That's obvious to everyone today and it's a flaw in the game that the referee is responsible for time keeping. It's ridiculous that it's 2012 and the referee still has control of that."
Manchester United have now lost two of their six Premier League games, and sit third in the table behind leaders Chelsea and Everton.
Ferguson said he was pleased with the second half performance where Wayne Rooney hit the post from a free-kick, while Michael Carrick had a header come back off the bar.
But the Scot said his side paid for a poor first-half showing where both Vertonghen and Bale carved through the hosts's defence.
"The most important thing was the first half," Ferguson added. "We didn't start, we were lackadaisical and lost a goal after two minutes, and you give yourself an uphill fight with that situation.
"In the second half we were terrific, it was a great performance by them, and we were unlucky not to win it... and if we had held the scoreline at 2-1 for a few minutes I think we would have won the match."
EDIT: By the way the ref blew the whistle at +4:24

Re: Fergie being a dickhead
Cant fault fergie really.
Referee has been poor today for united. No red card for opposition players when they dominated United , no penalty for dives when they are behind and not even customary Fergie time at Old Trafford.
The referee probably doesnt know PL rules.

Re: Fergie being a dickhead
After the line-up he threw out there against City for the pen-ultimate league deciding game last season, I'm not surprised that SAF is starting to lose his mind. His team has looked average at best coming into the fixture with Spurs. However, in all fairness, MU has been able to do what good teams should do, pulls wins out of their butt (or the refs).
For once Spurs got the result they deserved. They got the goals they needed and then closed up shop. It wasn't pretty in the second half, but if they can smash and grab like this against most teams I don't see them not finishing in the top 4. Admittedly, this seems to be the most wide open EPL season I have have witnessed in a while.

This...
The ref obviously didn't allow enough injury time. ManU hadn't even scored yet! What was he doing?
I'm sorry, but this statement is at best a distraction from a poor performance, and at worst the illusions of a manager used to enjoying the rub of the green from the referees.
If he thinks this game was bad, their next three fixtures aren't exactly a walk in the park. Newcastle, Stoke and Chelsea will all test United in very different ways. I'm anticipating more rants against the refs in the near future.

Re: Fergie being a dickhead
A lot of people are laughing at Ferguson for his comments but you can be sure the next time United are dominating a side and in need of a goal at Old Trafford they'll be able to look at the board and see 6+ minutes of stoppage time.

Obviously. It's what great managers do. He knows he (team selection) and the team (awful 1st hal performance) messed up, but is trying to deflect the situation.
Yet some on here can't see that. Like, really?

Re: Fergie being a dickhead
People suggesting others don't realise what Fergie's doing...
We all recognise what his intentions are, but we also realise that any other manager doing the same would get called on it while the pundits and journalists take his words as gospel. We're not suggesting that he doesn't realise what he says is wrong or hypocritical in this and the diving thread (it certainly is and you can be sure he knows it), nor are we suggesting that other managers don't do the same thing; we're simply pointing out the hypocrisy in it because by and large the media won't.

Re: Fergie being a dickhead
Fergie is top dog in England and when he speaks people listen. They listen because he's by far the best manager in England, perhaps even the world. He has the trophy case and the legacy to back it up.
By all accounts every other manager is a scub/noob compared to him and they aren't taken as seriously because they're just not as successful period. So until he retires fans of other clubs are just going have to deal with it.
Also I know this will sound silly but Ferguson does have a point. If you actually time the moments during which most games are inactive injury time would probably add up to more than the current average.
Having said all this the irony is hilarious
