Carrera accused of manslaughter following car crash
Juventus interim boss Massimo Carrera is under investigation for his involvement in a fatal car crash which resulted in two deaths.
The former defender, along with two others, are being accused of manslaughter for their roles in the collision, and the verdict is expected to be announced on October 9, after he requested an expedited hearing.
The two 23-year-olds that lost their lives were Chiara Varani and Patrizia Paninforni, both of whom were involved in a three car pile-up in the early hours of New Year's Eve last year.
While the occupants of all three cars came out to assess the damage, the Mercedes R-Class driven by Carrera hit the Ford Ka, killing one of the women immediately. The other lost her life later in hospital.
The Juve trainer's legal representatives are claiming that the lights on the highway during the night were faint, making it hard for their client to see the crash that lay ahead of him.
However, the victims' lawyers claim that he still should have seen the car was stationary, which would have meant that he could have avoided the collision completely.
Carrera is currently acting as Juventus' matchday coach after Antonio Conte was handed a 10-month touchline ban for his implication in the Scommessopoli scandal.

Re: Carrera accused of manslaughter following car crash
I was Just about to post this, shocked.
It's a shame that the two people died, apparantly the lights were dim and Carrera drove into the accident. The whole thing could have been avoided. I don't think there's a strong case against him.
Could our reputation become any more tainted?

Wait why would they assign him if they knew he was going to be going through all of this right now, considering this happened last New Year's Eve and not recently... or was there no expectation of manslaughter charges before?

your saying the italian Footbal Federation killed two people in order to destablise Juventus even though two people died as a result of this guys car going up the back of the car the two victims were in, one of which was dead on the scene and now the Football Federation has taken control of the Italian criminal court in order to deliver another blow to Juve?
pull your head out and think, this happened on new years eve, he was probably hammered when all this happened, and dim headlights is one of the worst excuses ive heard ffs

i think you really misinterpreted what he was saying [although i'm having a hard time deciphering what your first sentence means]. i think that poster was saying that people of influence may have persuaded prosecutors to give this case more importance in spite of the strength of the evidence.
perhaps you should seek to understand someone's view before, telling them what they can do with their head.
the fact that charges have just been filed from a car accident that occurred almost a year ago, seems to raise a red flag to me. i mean it's not a complicated securities transaction. however, i don't understand the legal system in italy--it seems much different than that of the US-- so I just don't know.
the more interesting question to me is:

wouldn't take that loing in the US, so this seems odd to me, but you could be absolutely right about the time issues, as i have no clue.

Re: Carrera accused of manslaughter following car crash
If the only "Evidence" they have against him is that he may have been driving under influence 1 year ago it's not even going to go to court.

Re: Carrera accused of manslaughter following car crash
Just what we needed, more negative news about us. To be fair though, it could've happened to anybody. He wasn't driving drunk and the other car was just stopped in the middle of a dark section of the highway.
In any case, Carrera only needs to be in charge until December because that's when Alessio's ban ends.
