Unreal isnt it. Guy with Sneijder took Oranje to WC final,single handedly took Bayern to CHL final something which has rarely been done in the history of the game. Lit up by the Premier League with Chelsea & was by far Madrid's best man in his 1st season when he was not injured.

1 of the 5 players in history of football to have assists in 3 different Euros.

And as for Di Maria he is garbage. Bayern's 4th Division Reserve Wingers like Jennings & Fischer are better than him. Hell my 12 year old nephew is way better than Di Maria.

This is pure BS. Because I remember then the whole Spanish media started a stupid Robben vs Messi war & Robben played a brilliant part in Madrid getting 52 odd points in a possible 54 & he had 2 assists even in the loss against Barca.

He was the only player who stood out. I am not sure wether it was the 2nd season or not. Higuain was a scrub who is worse version & cheaper version of Gomez who has be everything handed to a plate.

Anyways Robben was Caledron's Star & Favourite Signing & everyone knows how all Dutch players were kicked out. The coach requested & pleaded that Robben be kept. Ronaldo himself said he wanted to play with Robben.

Robben had a brilliant pre-season & out-shone Ronaldo & Kaka. His goal in the Pre-Season friendly against Dortmund is a 5 star Goal if ever there was,a truly Jaw Breaking one.

And everyone knows how loved & successful Robben was at Chelsea. He was sold because Mourinho hated injury prone players & forced him to play with injuries causing furthur spats.

i dont care what robben did in pre season because its pre season lol. what i do know is that while in 09 robben was impressive(though was wasteful specially in the important clashes) higuain was far more decisive and important , and i have pretty vivid memories of him saving us match after match

anyway as far as dribbling and passing go, iniesta takes this, with di maria being close in terms of passing. as the overall play, it really has to do with positions. as a winger i'd take di maria, as a midfielder iniesta

Robben's better as a right winger. Di Maria is a LCM/LM now.

Dribbling: Iniesta, Di Maria, Robben, Silva

Passing: Iniesta, Silva, Di Maria, Robben

Overall play (speed + workrate + stamina): Di Maria, Robben, Iniesta, Silva

Id say iniesta has better overall play then robben. Has more stamina and is underrated defensively

Robben when he will retire will solidify himself as one of the greats of this generation with the likes of Iniesta, Messi, Ronaldo, etc

Robben will never and can never be compared amongst the ranks of Iniesta let alone a footballing great FFS.

I simply don't rate him as highly as the players named here and in the OP thread. I find him limited, predictable and quite overrated now as just as the case with Oscar; one spectacular performance for the country and people are elevating both individuals beyond their deserved platform.

how quickly are you forgetting the way robben delivered Bayern Munich their 5th champions league. He was far and above Bayern best player in semis vs barca and in final vs dortmund. I still remember RObben many years ago destroying teams in the euros... He has had a wonderful career, he won everywhere, and performed everywhere. To me he is indeed one of the greats of his generation, and if not for his injuries maybe he would have been more. It doesnt matter that he is predictable, 90% teams still cant stop him i have seen far more versatile players failing to be as effective.

+1. Let's not forget how he carried Bayern to the double and CL final in 2010.

Robben's 09-10 season still remains the best I've ever seen. Not only the quality but the importance of his goals that season was astonishing. Schalke, Fiorentina, United etc Unreal

Robben is clearly one of the best players of his generation and has had an astionishing career. Struggling to think of a better winger apart from Garrincha that's had a better career.

Agreed. the goals against Fiorentina and Manchester United were outstanding too

Netherlands 2010 was going to win ( and it was really close to it  , against a GOAT NT) the WC with 2 only players pratically (Sneijder and Robben) , the rest was average .. even this Netherlands is more a squad than 2010 . and infact when in 2012 Robben and Sneijder (expecialy the latter) are decreased in performance that Netherlands showed to be a bluff with 0 points in group stage...

The reason why he did get booed is complicated, and it wasn't Bayern supporters finest hour, altough there were reasons to be a bit fed up with him.
But 'choke artist' before 2013? In our run to the CL final in 2009/10, which was van Gaal clumsily getting us back into Europe's top teams, Robben pretty much scored every decisive goal in every game, and he has done so pretty consistently since then.
Of course, he used to be injured half of the season so that has to be taken into account.
When Kroos got injured in the first Juve quarter and Robben came on that was the incident that made our CL win possible.
