The squad looks like it can finish at least in the top 3 imo.

No doubt Fiorentina's rebuild is exciting and they've gotten a lot of talented, experienced players on the cheap. As a neutral I'm stoked to watch them this season. But it could all backfire spectacularly, too. They'll do very well to qualify for next season's CL, to say nothing of winning it.

They will be lucky to qualify for the Europa League matter about the CL.

There are simply many better teams even on paper.

I can roll with this thread.....Fiorentina only need Jovetic to turn WC this season and 3rd place should be in the bag

I don't see them challenging for the top 3 but Montella will do a good job with this team

Decent team they're building. But by the 2014 CL final Jovetic will be long gone, hopefully to us.

I think they will finish in or marginally out of a EL spot.

La Viola have spent at least 7 times more than Milan have

Which goes to show the difference of ambition between the teams

People doubt Fiorentinas chances and while its near laughable to say they will win the league or more, it isn't unrealistic to see them grabbing a CL spot as they definitely possess the pedigree and squad to do so.

Why? People forget their manager is Vincenzo Montella as anyone who follows him knows what an absolute brilliant prospect he is in the managing world with his sheer vision and mind boggling detailed tactics and variability. He alone is the reason behind why Firenze may be a success.

If Jovetic goes they will.

If they get Gio they will have the atleast the 4th-5th best team on paper.

That midfield of Valero/Aqua/Pizza is as soft as the KFC biscuit that I just devoured (ie very soft). They need somebody in there that can make shins hurt. The steel to compliment the sapphire, so to speak. The ying to the yang. The Tyson to the CP3.

Actually Pizzaro like Arteta is very good defensively....he's just not a headless enforcer looking to injure people.

They can ball deny teams to death with that midfield + Jovetic , not saying they will but they potentially could...especially in Serie A with the lack of pressing.

Im impressed with their mercato, but to be honest I thought they had a quality team on paper last year, not CL quality mind you, but they definitely should have grabbed EL, imo.

I hope the best for them. They are a respectable club, that has been playing by the rules financially for years.

We need more owners in Serie A like the Della Valle brothers (and less like Zamparini and Pozzo as far as club ambition goes). Top class.

Fiorentina won't be anywhere near the Champions League places in my opinion, however they might fight the likes of Palermo for the final Europa League spot given Montella's ability to get the best out of a squad.

Their midfield has greater depth now, however their replacements for Montolivo and Behrami are both steps down and building a new unit entirely from scratch will take time. That midfield trio can hardly be expected to function well from day one and their defence is already highly questionable. Vargas hasn't been a functional left back for years, Cassani is a Europa League defender and their central defenders are far from impressive on any level.

Juventus, Napoli, Roma, Inter, Milan, Udinese and Lazio are all comfortably ahead of them.

Hm, they are reportedly signing Berbatov from MU for a fee of around 5mil euros, I think he will do really well at Fiorentina. Wonder if Fio will let Jovetic go after this, but probably not.

I don't know about that, but I fully expect Berbatov to flourish and come out firing in his first season. Fiorentina will challenge for CL spots for sure.

I enjoy watching Quadrado move, so effortless. Hope he can do some damage eventually.
