Oh wow, if the Alonso-Gerrard-Kaka actually happened it would be incredible imo. So much quality.

Does it beat Xavieasta + Busi? I'm going to go with yeah, probably, but they never played together so we'll never know.

yes it is a hypothetical example, but we have seen this Hypothetical trio play together twice in UCL final (liverpool vs. milan)... so we kinda did see them in action eventhough they weren't playing for a same team..

It is interesting to think about such scenarios

Barcelona mf would wipe the floor with them. They will all chase shadows. It's essentially a 3 vs 2 in mf as gerrard is not a cm reall and kaka never dropped that deep. They wouldnt touch the ball.

Park with that midfield and it's a nice Chess match.

Alonso without a defensive presence around him...this notion baffles me.

Anyway, you can literally put any 3 players you want together, they wont win this battle.

The will never have more of the ball, they will never control possession..the only hope for the midfield is the entire team playing defensively.

Barca midfield is just the best out there full stop, you can do any kind of hypothetical midfield you want but I don't think there will be three that can beat this one, to be honest.

I thought we were comparing midfields not teams. It would only be a fair comparison to compare if it was the same barcelona team with a different midfield

Theres different ways you could look at this. You could see it as a more direct system with maradona playing as a 10, or you could see it as an older maradona playing deeper playing as a more creative xavi. This barcelona would outpass the real barcelona imo

No it wouldnt.Your team wouldnt see the ball and Maradona would be chasing Xavi's shadow all game long.

Its hilarious. Did you see the arsenal vs barcelona games where wilshere kept playing with xavi eveytime he challenged him? or the times senna used to nutmeg xavi for fun? yet legends like maradona, giresse, and beckebauer would apparently fail against this glorified ray wilkins....
