There are reports from the UK (credible?) that Liverpool are willing to pay around 11.5M for him. We have not received any formal offers yet, as far as I know.

That seems like a good fee for him however as a Liverpool fan I think 8-9m is enough.

Re: Real Madrid Transfer Rumours
Varane coming to Madrid is highly, highly unlikely if Coentrao is signed. He wants to play regularly and is urged by everyone around him to go to a club that allow him to play immediately.
You only hear about the elite clubs after him in the press. But there are plenty of others... he is looking for the right situation for him.

bavaria signed a striker hahaha and we look for more defenders. our denfeders are good enough why look for others? leave them be, fssss.sportsczy wrote:Varane coming to Madrid is highly, highly unlikely if Coentrao is signed. futbol_bill wrote:sportsczy wrote:futbol_bill wrote:sportsczy wrote:But Bill... when have we ever gotten in the way of a player who asked to leave respectfully? Never as far as I can recall. It's the Madrid way. It allows us to have the competition in our team because multiple WC players in the same positions will come to Madrid knowing they will not get boxed in.
Besides, Lass has already completely moved out of Madrid lol. He has no intention of coming back. He's just letting Madrid negotiate without interfering.
We did when we gave Mou his power. Mou doesn't want him to go (not now nor last year). Mou will be saying sweet things to him if there is no offer. I was sure it was 12M we paid for him?? Nick say 18!!, In any event I still say he isn't worth 15 let along 20. So if we find a naive buyer, good - we have 20M to buy a replacement (or use it towards our transfer budget). But as I said, I think there will be no takers!!!
Another point we'll agree to disagree on. No way this happens. When it's all said and done, i think Lass goes for between 12-15 million. Not more unless we take somebody's unwanted luggage that we may need (Melo). But it will happen.
Fair enough - at least we agree on his value. (see Nick, I'm not the only one!!) Tell me Sportczy, what do we do once Lass is gone; do we get another pure DM or do we say we have enough MFs already plus we can use Pepe, Ramos, Albiol etc when a DM psecialist is called for?
Sportczy - did you see this article today? "No hay ningún conflicto con Lass", dice su agente
I know it's marca, but it's what I was expecting.

I take that statement very lightly bill, very lightly...
@sportsczy, there is no chance we will sign him this summer but it's good we have him on our radar already

Maybe, but there is another article in AS today where he is demanding to Juventus that he wants a salary of 4.5M. Either with the 20M tansfer fee demand or his salary demand, none will pay this. So either way, what his agent ids supposed to have said, makes sense. He does have a new offer from madrid that he hasn't signed yet(my guess is it's likely around 4M a year) and he has Mou telling him he wants him to stay. So his agent begins to make these types of statements to propose their back-up plan (stay inMadrid and keep people like Sportczy happy - saying he never was sure that he was going to leave). Their game plan is to get not only more playing time but improved money as well.
So my opinion is none will pay the demands and he will stay with Real. Nick thinks someone will pay and he will be gone and we'll likely sign someone (likely a DM - I read today that Zidane will help us get Hazard!!) to replace him and Sportczy thinks we will sell him even if we have to lower price tag.

Re: Real Madrid Transfer Rumours
Missed your post the other day Bill. Sorry about that.
Regarding Lass... Melo is a more than capable replacement which is why i think that deal has legs. We're not looking for a regular player, but someone to fill a specialized part-time role. I think Melo is more than adequate for that. As i mentioned in another thread, he had 6 yellows and 1 red compared to Lass' 11 yellows... and he played a lot more minutes. He calmed down quite a bit.
The quote doesn't mean much to me. Having refused a contract extension for more money does most of the talking.

Re: Real Madrid Transfer Rumours
Bill... i'm talking about refusing to comply with a player's transfer request and its implications to Madrid. It would not be a good thing regarding the quality of our depth signings in the future. WC players would stop coming if their path to playing time wasn't clear. It's not worth it to sacrifice the player/club trust that we have right now for a player with a limited role on our team like Lass. If Ronaldo made such a demand and we were tough, it would make a bit more sense.

Re: Real Madrid Transfer Rumours
Keep in mind that AS is just quoting tuttomercato, another shaky italian rumor mill. Im not sure that's true, but if it's the case, Lass is delusional. Immo, madrid is paying him above market value for his role in the team, and his wages must be higher than the average DM, so he can be a little greedy money wise.
Marca really needs to stop with all the crap they print. Zidane once said that he would love to bring Hazard in Real, and ever since, people arent letting go of it. Marca made the first page about it today, still using those old informations. we arent on Hazard.
I agree with Sportsczy, unless there is really no team looking to buy him, he will stick around, but i doubt it.

Re: Real Madrid Transfer Rumours
Regarding Lass and Juve, we're haggling over the transfer price. I don't think Juve will have a problem paying the wages.
I'm calling it right now... Melo + cash for Lass gets done.

Ok we're just going to have to wait to see which one of the 3 of us is right. I think you say Juve will pay either the 20M plus salary demand or get us to lower transfer fee + Melo. I suspect this should be accepted or not within the next 2 weeks. Interesting is there is no talk (that I know about) of any offers from EPL where Lass has said before, he would like to go.

Re: Real Madrid Transfer Rumours
A lot of EPL teams are in debt trouble... with financial fair play coming, they need to make sure they sign the right guys for the big money. Also, DM is becoming an extinct species in modern football... b2b mids are the fashion.
Epl is just not as free-dealing as we're accustomed.

Does mourinho want Melo? he isnt exactly signing hot potato head so far. on paper he would fit the mourinho guideline, but as reported, madrid wants the money to fund coentrao's deal.
but it's not impossible
