Juventus look to seal deals for young guns Gabbiadini and Verratti

The Bianconeri want to wrap up the talks with both Atalanta and Pescara as they still have a lot of dead wood to clear out before they can concentrate on signing star names.

Juventus director general Beppe Marotta and sporting director Fabio Paratici are working around the clock to tie up deals for youngsters Manolo Gabbiadini and Marco Verratti so that they can fully focus their attention on landing their primary transfer targets, Goal.com has learned.

Having reclaimed what they feel is their rightful position at the summit of Italian football, the Bianconeri are keen to strengthen their squad ahead of next season's return to the Champions League, particularly from an attacking perspective.

While their attempts to lure Arsenal hitman Robin van Persie are ongoing, the first forward likely to arrive in Turin this summer is Gabbiadini, with the Serie A champions on the verge of agreeing a €4.5 million (£3.6m) deal with Atalanta for half of the Italy Under-21 international's registration rights.

The Nerazzurri remain open to including either right-back Marco Motta or midfielder Michele Pazienza in the transaction but there are other clubs interested in both players. Bologna are keen on the former, while Napoli, Fiorentina and even Genoa have been sniffing around the latter.

As for Verratti, Juve's negotiations with Pescara continue to drag on, with the two clubs yet to agree a fee for the player. The Old Lady's cause has not been aided by the fact that both Ouasim Bouy and James Troisi have declined the opportunity to move to Bergamo.

However, the Bianconeri remain supremely confident that the deal will go through as 'the new Andrea Pirlo' remains intent on honouring the agreement he reached with the club last December. Indeed, Verratti is refusing to even entertain the idea of joining Napoli, who have attempted to hijack the proposed transfer to Turin.

Still, Juve are keen to resolve both sets of negotiations as soon as possible; hence the long hours currently being undertaken by Marotta and Paratici. Both are acutely aware of the need to clear some dead wood - Milos Krasic, Eljero Elia, Vincenzo Iaquinta to name just three - before they can concentrate exclusively on bolstering their ranks with at least one high-profile addition this summer.
