banega is too inconsistent,only turns it up vs barca
modric for me,but hes also a bit inconsistent and not as influential as he could be in every game.also well known to flop in big games

well we dont know how wilshere is going to turn out after injury,
modric, maybe i dont know, but he was very crappy last season. one performance vs spain dont mean anything.

i have been more impressed with wilshere than modric in the premier league. so id go with wilshere, because i havent seen a bad performance from him at such a young age.

Banega is the best from this bunch but Wilshere comes close. But I also like how Modric didn't dominate a decent midfield since Man Utd (FA Cup final) and constantly makes these lists.

Wilshere is being judged on a season where he was 18/19, modric is 26, banega 23, yet wilshere still is preffered by some (non arsenal) fans. This is a clue as to who has greater talent

Modric is in his prime, Banega been there for years as well. Wilshere just played 1 season and is only 20. Not done enough to be compared imo

based purely on skill, talent etc id take Wilshere, but if in terms of who id rather my club sign id want Banega due to Wilshere's injury prone-ness

Modric is best for now, and not overrated at all???? Unless you rate him iniesta level then he is, but for a cm he is a good premier level CM.

Banega is inconsistent, but then again so is his entire team. He's a big game player and, like Riquelme, only plays his best against the best teams. It's a motivation problem, not a statement on his quality. With the right manager (you know, an ambitious one) it could be fixed.
Then again I'm not really the best guy to ask, given that I rarely watch Modric and haven't seen Whilshere in over a year, nor do I think the amount of difference is incredibly large. But I do feel that sometimes Banega is underrated on this forum.

Wasnt Copa america big enough for him to perform? (actually copa is a joke but thats another story)
Gago out classed him and made that spot his in that tournament

MOTM the first game, he was undeservedly dropped from the team. That being said Gago had a pretty GOAT tournament himself. In my opinion they should both start.

I clearly remember Argentina playing better with Gago than with Banega as the play maker in the last copa hence he was dropped.

Although wilshere is still very young and modric is in his prime i dont think modric is better. Lets look at the 2010/11 season when wilshere was fit:
Modric: 43 aps 4 goals 3 assists
Wilshere: 49 apps 2 goals 9 assists
statistically wilshere had better end product, but im sure we all know modric is renowned for having no end product, his talents lie elsewhere, so lets like at their honours:
modric: tottenhams player of the season
wilshere: arsenals player of the season, inclusion in the pfa team of the year, winner of young player of the year
obviously mod was not elligible for the young player award, but seems he was not voted by his peers into the premiership team of the year yet wilshere was, despite all the tottenham related hype that season
lets look at their champions league record that season:
modric: apps 9 goals 1 assists 1
wilshere: apps 7 goals 1 assists 3
The most important thing about this is wilshere turned up in arsenals knock out tie against barcelona, modric went missing against real madrid. This already is a key difference between them, wilshere always looks for the ball, demands it at times, doesnt shy away from the task no matter who the opponent is. Modric is a player with talent, but too often lets the game drift past him

Agree with all that, and Indeed wilshere was better in that season. But overall atm, Its unfair to compare them two, or them three because Banega nor Wilshere have seen the pitch in months.

If you watch Modric week in week out you know he's not the type of player who scores too much or even gets a lot of assists. He's really similar to Iniesta in that way.
Anyway, this thread is stupid. It's like "C.Ronaldo vs Heskey vs Bendtner"
It's Modric and it's not close, I think most here can agree with that. For a recent reference of Modric's ability, I advise you to watch Spain vs Croatia again...

Wilshere is a big game player. He is one of my favourite players, but let's see how well he will do after his long-term injury spell. But for his age, he is class.
Banega has great awareness, one of those midfielders who can control a midfield. He works hard and is very clever with his passes. He lacks consistency and can get complacent at times.
Modrić is the oldest of them all and in his prime. He is fantastic as a CM and has more flair than the other two but he lacks that killer instinct or final ball in the final third. And as mentioned, he is not one of those players who can change a match, especially when it comes to big occasions.
