Wenger: Van Persie won’t join Juve
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has poured scorn on the idea of Robin Van Persie joining Juventus.
Van Persie was the Premier League's top scorer with 30 goals last season and has been linked with a number of clubs, but the strongest speculation has surrounded a potential move to the Serie A champions.
The Dutch international recently described Juve as 'a great team' and was rumoured to have been in Turin for signing talks earlier this summer.
However, Wenger, who is working as a commentator for French television at Euro 2012, has scotched the claims and had a pop at Serie A's prestige in the process.
“He will stay at Arsenal,” commented the Frenchman in an interview with La Repubblica.
“There is no reason why a top player, a big champion would want a move to Serie A in terms of the prestige of the League, the level of play or financial considerations.
“If he moves there I will buy you a caramello.”
Wenger's side were eliminated from the Champions League by Milan last season after a 4-0 first leg thrashing at San Siro.

I like Arsenal and respect Wenger for how he wins without having many players at their peak. But Arsenal has become a team that sells when its players reach their maximum potential. So, he shouldn't talk about Juventus as if its some second rate team. When Arsenal starts holding out to its champions when they are at their best, then Wenger can talk some trash.

Maybe to actually win some trophies? How long was it since Arsenal last won a trophy? 7, 8 years?

Wenger
Let's not kid ourselves and say we're a better league then EPL, because Serie A has fallen behind in terms of league position over the last ten years..
But to state that a champion wouldn't go to big teams in Italy is a joke. Juventus are probably one of the most interesting clubs to join as a player right now. I believe we can have a lot of the same players the fanboys are looking after.. If Wenger retires after a couple of years and realize he still haven't won anything I think he'll look back and admit his project was kind of a failure..

What honors would those be? The FA Cup, Community Shield, and EPL titles last won in 2004 and 2005?
Arsenal has been a seller of players in their peak rather than a buyer and, with that track record, I think Juve is positioning itself for more trophies in Europe and Serie A than Arsensal is.
If Giroud comes to Arsenal, they will probably sell RVP anyways. That's how Arsenal usually treats its players in the last fifteen years, with just a few exceptions.

Re: Wenger: Van Persie won’t join Juve
Arsene Wenger, you fool; the EPL is a 3-horse race and unfortunately, you will always have to settle for 2nd best. 10 legit top 25 defenders, the best regista, 15-20 world-class midfielders, several up-and-coming wingers, and a ton of talented strikers, the best GK; comparing a team which has won more trophies in 1 year than you have won in the last 7, yeah he makes complete sense
The EPL, bar 5-6 teams, is littered with leftovers-scrub players for smaller clubs to fight for, and have Neville proclaim them as "talented"; the EPL is a league based almost-entirely on foreigners, hard to compete w a squad full of scrubs like Huth,Whelan,Delap,Fuller lmao
Thought RVP wants to fight for trophies? I guess "finishing in the Top 3 is like a trophy for Arsenal"
Would rather sign Higuain anyways.
3-5-2

Well, he's right.
You're not going to move to serie a for money because there is clubs in so many other leagues that will pay the same.
You're not moving for prestige because the league is not in great shape at all.
Now, he is forgetting that Juventus is the exception right now.
Other clubs seem to be crumbling but Juventus is in an excellent position, coming off an incredible year, having a new stadium etc.

I also like wenger as a coach and his business ability , but these seem like words of frustration or desperation. Keeping in mind hes lost 3 of his stars in one season .

Hi, hello, Serie Meh ladies, why is it you seem to dwell on the former but disregard the latter? Mainly
Why would a, say, Rooney, Gerrard or Drogba want to go to Italy? So they can be the young bucks amongst the old war horses who can't pull their own plough? So they can make a pittance compared to what they are currently earning? Wenger is absolutely correct with what he's saying, but instead, the vultures want to circle around and take cheap shots

Re: Wenger: Van Persie won’t join Juve
Once upon a time,
a young boy named arsenal got their asses whopped 4-0 by an old man named Milan in the old mans field called the San Siro.
The young boy was mad and wanted a rematch this time at the young boy's field called Emirates Stadium. The little boy beat the old man 3-0.
Even though the young boy had beaten the old man, the old man still won on aggregate and went on to the next round of the neighborhood tournament that was called the champions league.
The End

What are we arguing about? How Arsenal almost wasn't eliminated from UCL? Go back to the Arsenal forum and talk about how awesome it is to be the training academy for players for the top EPL teams that actually compete for league and UCL titles.
