"He will stay at Arsenal," Wenger told Italian newspaper La Repubblica. "There is no reason why a top player, a big champion would want a move to Serie A - in terms of the prestige of the league, the level of play or financial considerations."

Emphasising his confidence, Wenger added: "If he moves there, I will buy you a caramello [Italian ice cream]."

WENGER MAD COS RVP COMIN TO JUVE banana

He's basically saying 'stay with us in the EPL, we can offer you MONEY!'

Same old EPL, can't win something so stuff money down its throat till you do.

I hope Wenger leaves Arsenal, deffo becoming a joke now. 8 years without a trophy and struggling to get into a champions league place, wow.

Can't say i disagree really . Serie A isn't what it used to be , this is nothing new.

From every perspective , Spain or England , probably Germany too , would be a better choice for top players these days . It's no coincedence many top players have left Serie A in the last 3-4 years either.

But he clearly does look like a fool when we consider an italian team trashed his team 4-0 in CL. Laughing

How serious were you in that post? Makes me wonder really.. Two points of contention - 1. Arsenal and Money? Really? and 2. Struggle for CL football, after 15 odd consecutive seasons in it? (If not for that pathetic start to the season after being humped sideways over Nasri and Cesc, it wouldn't have looked a 'struggle'. If it was indeed such a struggle, players wouldn't have bet with fans of a certain rival club as far back as September last year.)

And unless those quotes are from Arsenal.com, chances are that the words were twisted. No reason why he would want to compare two leagues as a reason to show why his captain wouldn't leave.

well , that's something good to point out , but the talk here isn't about just 1-2 teams . It's quite general.

Serie A cannot offer what EPL , La Liga or Bundesliga offer these days .

On that pitch? What about the 3-0 drubbing in the return leg, on which fans of the same team in question conceded on being outplayed? Laughing

Same thing about La Liga? I very much doubt it. Quote if you can please!

EDIT: Also, the 'money' argument becomes invalid if you talk La Liga. I don't need statistics to compare what Real Madrid or Barcelona pay their players and what is the wage cap at Arsenal. As does the 'reputation of the league' argument - otherwise you won't have every half decent player wanting to run to Barcelona or Madrid and more than half the agents linking their clients to those teams.

Both team played in same pitch and getting destroyed 4-0 and blaming pitch is laughable to say the least.

If the level of play was so huge why his team looked like noobs against a milan side that was plagued with injury all season.

Yeah, he said La Liga is not competitive and has many clubs in poor financial position, so why would anyone want to go there.

But he's going to lose RVP either way though.

“He will stay at Arsenal,” commented the Frenchman in an interview with La Repubblica.

He said the same thing before Fabregas,Nasri and Viera left.

Look this is the UGLY TRUTH. Everyone knows this. Seria A is a dying league. What will happen the CHL money double & Seria A has only 2 guaranteed SPots & 1 Play-Offs.

Add to it the league is sunked in debt & with FFP coming in teams like Milan have to lower their wages substantially.

Seria A has had a massive fall. You know it. Its not a Huge League anymore. And it will get worse. Wait till FFP comes in,teams have no stadiums & other teams are profiting for it. And wait till there is 2 CHL spots + 1 Playoff.

CHL money will double & EPL,BL & LA LIGA teams will get more money will Seria A will get less from the CHL pot.

Worse thing is the TV deal. Seria A what is was years back is not that good now. I would not be surprised if the deal is valued lower or has 0 growth.

Clearly, you are keen on trolling. I don't see why I should continue arguing about two matches (you can look up any justifications in both Arsenal and Milan section post match threads). By your logic, any minnow which beats a bigger team also deserves plaudits for being better? (Not saying Milan is a small team in any sense, just extrapolating your statement.)

Nor do I see any reason to argue about Wenger or his contributions. Ofcourse he is a deluded for being at a club for 16 years while the derby rivals had 12 managers in that period. I wonder how many managers have managed to trick their boards into not firing them that long. (And don't say 8 years is your reason, I would have to write a god damn book to justify some part of it. Although with some luck, we should have had 2 titles in that period and 1 CL, to say the least. We have been mental midgets and/or pure unlucky when ever we could have accomplished something in that period. )

Serie A is in a slump now. But everything in this world moves in cycles. Serie A will be back to the top again. Too many important people with a stake in Serie A clubs to say that it is going to die.

Not butthurt mate. See my above post. Just trying to refute the wonderful logic of calling a manager a lose on the basis of one match.

Ok , Serie A might not be what it used to , but it's still a huge league , let's not derail everything here.

Top players might have more advantages playing in England , Spain , even Bundesliga when it comes to their best teams , but many top players still play in Serie A and the big clubs in Italy will always be able to attract big players.

If he prolongs his career with Arsenal especially with Wenger in charge he wont win much..If he is lucky maybe 1 or 2 Carling Cups or maybe an FA Cup.

I dont see him joining Juventus but i think City will most probably his likely destination.
