Benzema is just a joke for France so far, he needs to start attacking the box... And France defence was a joke today vs Zlatan - imagine what Iniesta could do to it.

Iniesta can't do what Zlatan can.. Don't underestimate France.. very rarely a team who reaches top form in the group stage wins the competition! Spain struggled with Croatia.. it's gonna be a close game

I don't know whether to look at this match as lose-lose or win-win

Mexes is suspended, right? So Koscielny will play. Koscielny typically does well against quick, technical players so we'll see. Spain are favourites but France could spring a surprise.

Drop Benzema please

Many tipped this match to be the final.

Spain were far too slow and predictable against Croatia, France stand a real chance of knocking them out if they do their homework.

I don't know if Benz is dropping deep due to lack of service or if he is given these instructions by Blanc, but he needs to play more as a CF or France will continue to sruggle.
Against Spain expect him to drop even deeper since we know what Spains midfield is capable of.
A lack of cutting edge from both teams so far. Spain will win.

benzema has been a idiot tactically, dropping deep way too much and causing a 4-6-0 that even spain played once. Weather it is due to Blanc's instruction or not is questionable.

He has taken 15 shots in 3 games yet no goal.That is horrible.Le samourai has been bashing Cr for taking too many shots with Madrid lets see what is his take on Benzederp

Meh, Iniesta has taken the same number of shots

France just needs to put someone on the pitch who will convert all these gorgeous through balls and benefit from this exquisite link up .

Benz is struggling because he's being asked to be something he's not...a targetman....he's taking shots because no one is in front of him making runs or giving him someone to create for.

If there's one thing worse than and unnecessary shot, it's a back pass

Anyway....I would love to see this scrub dropped for this match

15 shots in 3 games isnt 5 shots a game..thats not a crazy number for a striker.

Cristiano takes like 7 and half I think. And he is a "winger" if your to believe the nughuggers.

But yeah, Benz dropping deep wouldnt be a problem if France had the off ball runs/runners. But Ribery, Ben Afra/Menez and Nasri arent those sorts of players. Cabaye did it a game ago, intrestingly enough.

But yeah, they dont have those players so its causing problems. Benz is devolping the Kluivert snydrome, which must be cut from his game. Kluivert did this very same thing (probably worse). He ignored his biggest strengths (finishing, heading) and because of his great technical skills came further and further away from the box.

Benz could get away with this more at club level when you got goal poacher Cristiano with you, but for his whole game...its not a good thing.

Its not about dropping deep etc for benz, its about making him the central focus of the attack, they need to build the attack on him. more 1,2's with him etc.

Benzema is comfortably France's best striker. Having said that the way he is playing is not helping him or his team. Like many have said already the space he leaves in the box isn't a bad thing if other players are making runs into said space. No one is doing that right now though.

Benzema has to take reponsibilty now imo. He is France's best player and is wearing the number ten jersey. He has to step up as a leader now.He needs to be the one getting into the box and finishing the play.

I think Spain is a great matchup for Benzema but not a good match up for France as a whole though.

Anything can happen, but can't see france outplaying spain at their own game. They don't look clinical enough to get low chances and convert them to goals atm which teams kinda need when they play spain either...

And also france's defence have looked weak at times mexes & rami don't look the best to me, I have no idea why they don't start koscielny, considering laurent blanc was a good defender I expected him to know that.

I think even on Torres bad form he will cause them 2 problems

Sure he's good but I've seen him screw up enough times to see why Blanc doesn't start him especially in a big tournament.

LOL but at least Mexes is a good communicator. Kos really looks like a naive CB imo.

I still dont understand why Blanc didn't take Mbiwa.... he's made less mistakes in 36 games for Montpellier than Mexes has in 3 games for France

Anybody would be an upgrade over Mexes right now.
