ALESSANDRO NESTA can stay at Milan after all according to reports as Milan offered him a renewal.

The Italian defender left Milan last month along with Gennaro Gattuso, Mark Van Bommel, Filippo Inzaghi and Gianluca Zambrotta but it now appears that he could return to Milan for at least one more year.

Milan have no money to invest in a new defender and long-term target Francesco Acerbi’s transfer is on hold until Chievo and Genoa sort out the co-ownership situation so Milan apparently look at Nesta.

According to il Corriere dello Sport, Milan are considering to bring Nesta back as the center back hasn’t found a new team yet. “Nesta? I have spoken with him, but we’ll see. I offered him a 1-year extension and now we’ll see what happens in our defence,” Vice President and Chief Executive Adriano Galliani said.

“When Nesta told me that he would leave us, I went ahead and tried to sign Acerbi, but now we will see what happens.” Milan already have Daniele Bonera, Philippe Mexes, Mario Yepes and Thiago Silva for CB.

Nesta has been linked with a move to the MLS but it appears that his wage demands are too much for New York Red Bulls who were very interested in him. The Rome-based newspaper also claims that Milan are considering a move for Napoli’s Andrea Dossena who could be released from Napoli this summer.

Galliani said yesterday that Milan will make only two more signings this season and that’s it: one central defender (probably Acerbi but could be also Nesta) and one midfielder: one of Flamini and Aquilani.

I absolutely adore Nesta and it is so, unbelievably hard to let him go, however we need to consider the future. Even if this move has positive short term effects, we're living in the past if we're considering bringing back a 36 year old central defender, no matter how much of a legend he is.

It's time for new blood.

No Inter player can be 'good' until they move to Milan or express their desire to move to Milan or are named Javier Zanetti. Anyway, it's not Palacio's age or his quality...

Also, whilst I under no circumstances condone the wearing of a rat's tail, it must be said that Obi Wan Kenobi had one when young. I fear to think of Palacio's potential now that he has lost his.

Anyway, back on topic, Nesta remains very much a last resort for us in the market and given that we are dealing with a player who still has significant quality, he will not be in want of a team for long.

I 100% would have him back in an instant , but Nesta has never gone against his decisions in his career.

I wouldn't get my hopes up just for this.
