There are those who still hold on to the opinion that with Xavi and co, he would actually be the old Torres..or at least score goals.

Lets see.

I would have fielded Llorente against our team, however fielding a more fluid striker can certainly have its merits, particularly given the uncertainty surrounding our backline. De Rossi is set to feature in central defence as a sweeper, however Prandelli will likely get him to push up into midfield if he can.

Whilst I don't approve of Del Bosque's selections concerning his strikers, they can still beat any side in Europe, even with Torres' complete lack of confidence in front of goal.

I personally don't expect Spain to win anyway, however for the moment, it's just a decision for the group stage. Llorente may well bench Torres later in the tournament. For now, it's unlikely to hurt Spain's campaign and his game may be well suited to unsettling an Italian defence which I would expect to struggle against a quicker, more skillful player.
