Who is the best Spanish Striker?
Who do you think is currently the best spanish CF?
so you have
1) Negredo: A madrid product, he went straight from Madrid B to Almeria where he broke out, scoring 13 and 19 goals in two seasons. He then went to Sevilla and last year he had his best ever season, scoring 26 goals. He has been plagued with injuries this year, scoring 6 in 14 in la liga. Negredo is a bit of an "english style" forward, 6'1, he is equally strong in the air and on the ground, and his passing is quality for a forward, that's the reason why VDB favored him ahead of Soldado last year. He does score some very pretty goal, he can chip it, bang it with both feet, well rounded player.
2) Soldado: Another madrid product, although he had his chances with the first team, he was under appreciated and he made his way to getafe where he became the focus of their attack. He has been averaging 20+ goals a season since 09/10, and he has already scored 20 in 29 this season, some impressive numbers. Great poacher, he plays very simple, give him the ball in the last meters and he will bury it. he is deceptively skillful and can pull out a trick or two. His movements in attack keeping the line occupied are top notch. Certainly the most in form at the moment.
3) Llorente: Basque target man, over 6'3 he looks like a tower and an absolute nightmare if you have to mark him in the box. His goalscoring since 08/09 has been consistent without being exceptional, always above 18 goals a season. at the start of the season he struggled to adapt to Bielsa's new system, in which he is acting like a pivot for the winger. he worked a lot on his passing in improved in that aspect. Brilliant in the air, but not always the most clinical wit his feet. He is skilled like few big men in football, just ask Pique or Madrid defenders, they got owned by some crafty tricks.
4) Torres: Another striker from madrid, but the other side of town. Used to be an elite striker but that time is long gone now. For the past 3 years he has been a completely different player, scoring just 14 in 70. Torres has lost a lot of his explosiveness, but he still looks like he has a good touch, and good passing to play layoffs to his team mates. he used to be a big performer in big games, so that mental aspect of his game can still be latent.
5) Raul Gonzales: God's gift to madridistas, a god among men for many. Another madrid prodruct, and he is still kicking ass at 34. His goalscoring on the past two seasons and his performances in CL for Schalke have been exemplary. He might not be in his prime and he can still finish, and set up the people around him.
It's also worth mentioning Rodrigo Moreno, having his breakout with benfica. He is slowly working his way into their starting 11, scoring 6 in 10 in the league, and some impressive performances in CL. Adrian deserves a nod as well
Villa being out of commission, im not sure it's worth mentioning him but feel free.

BTW by calling Negredo a Madrid talent are you referring to the fact that Vallecano are based in Madrid?

An in-form David Villa would top that list.

Re: Who is the best Spanish Striker?
Negredo is highly overrated.
Soldado for me.
Nick, fix this part:
For the past 3 years he has been a completely different player, scoring just 14 in 70.
He's decline came during the World Cup or the start of Roy's reign of failure.
He scored 21 goals in 19 games in 2009/10.
Soldado for me.

I'm assuming Villa isn't on this list out of his injury? Out of form or not, he's the one I'd want.
Having to choose on this list though, I'd go with Soldado... Llorente while great, won't fit into a 50%> ball possession, tiki taka type style team nearly as well as Sol would. Llor while extremely skillful for his size, is a target man, and for good reason... But the simple truth is, Spain isn't that type of team. So his attributes would be a little wasted. He simply doesn't fit as well.
PS: Negredo is overrated.

Re: Who is the best Spanish Striker?
For me its between Soldado and Llorente. It depends hugely on the team they play in as they're both very different.
Soldado has been the most in form for 2 years now, absolute class for me. However, Llorente would score more with a better/more attacking team. I like both of them.
Villa not on here because he's not a CF anymore, but he can clearly still play the position. Not in form, but Villa's on another level... so I'd still take him any day.

Re: Who is the best Spanish Striker?
Raul is no longer a striker tho.
Llorente for Me , has all the tools, possibly the most complete striker in the world today ( I may be forgetting someone here)
Edit: Zlatan lol, but he's up there.

Re: Who is the best Spanish Striker?
Guys like Rodrigo and Adrian have been having good seasons.
imo if Spain want to bleed in some youth upfront these two would do a good job.
I'd go with Llorente overall though atm.

soldado is more clinical than llorente... if you're talking who's the best suitable for spain atm it would be him since he's got a gazillion teammates to create chances for him

I think eventually he'll have to pick SOladad but I doubt he'll start.
He seems like a guy you would bring on to get you a goal.

Re: Who is the best Spanish Striker?
Llorente. But you have to respect Saldado's goalscoring.
I think though, you have a better chance of keeping Saldado quite because Llorente is such a presence, regardless of he scored or not.

This. I think Spain should stop focusing on adding more creativity and start adding more goalscorers.
They have the best creativity in the world with Xavi-Busi-Iniesta, all you need now is players that can score

Re: Who is the best Spanish Striker?
Llorente dosen't just add creativity......he's a tactical weapon in the air and he can help then retain posession by holding it up.
It's also neccesary that each player on the team can at least make the right pass consistently, some play is always going to run through your striker....it's not like he just sits their and waits for chances....
But Soldado will be an excellent bench weapon...I just hope he travels TBH.

between Soldado and Llorente...if Llorente wasn't from the basque region, think he would have signed for a premierleague club a long time ago
