The Eredivisie outfit have announced on their website that the prolific striker has signed a five-year contract with the 2009 Bundesliga champions.
Wolfsburg have completed the signing of Bas Dost from Heerenveen for an undisclosed fee.
The Eredivisie outfit have announced on their official website that the striker underwent a medical in Germany on Friday, before inking a five-year deal with the Wolfe.
The 2009 Bundesliga champions had long been linked with a move for the 23-year-old, and head coach Felix Magath has now got the attacking reinforcements he was looking for.
Dost is a product of the Emmen youth academy, and also wore the jersey of Heracles before joining Heerenveen in the summer of 2010.
He netted an impressive 38 goals in all competitions in the 2011-12 campaign, and was crowned Eredivisie top scorer with 32 strikes.
The former Netherlands Under-21 striker had also attracted the interest of clubs such as Borussia Monchengladbach, West Ham United, Aston Villa and Everton.

Who then...nine million euros isn't all too cheap and his other suitors were supposedly West Ham, Aston Villa, and Everton. Wolfsburg is a way better move than any of those three.

Re: Official: Dost leaves Heerenveen for Wolfsburg
I personally would have gone to Everton.
if he could get a starting spot there the whole world would be watching him.
Wolfsburg is far to inconsistant and proved to be bad places for Kjaer and Diego.

Wolfsburg has a significantly better chance at winning trophies and playing European football than Everton, though.

Wolfsburg has big Volkswagen money. And they are throwing in money. They wont let Diego go back to Athletico too.
They got Olic & they bought 9-10 plays in the winter transfer window. This is good for Dost. A Mid-table BL club. If he does well, say 25-30 goals then everyone will want him. Bundesliga is a huge league now anyways compared to what it was a few years ago. It has really benefitted from a talented German generation.
I hope Wolfsburg buys a couple of decent defenders. They can be serious competitors for the CHL spots

Why not Borussia Monchengladbach then?
they are in Europe this year, and Reus is leaving his spot open...

Re: Official: Dost leaves Heerenveen for Wolfsburg
Because Wolfsburg can spend more than BMG. And Wolfsburg have a manager who likes to spend a lot in Magath and the VW company behind them to finance it. Moreover, Magath already won a BL title with them in 2009. I'm pretty sure he will try to replicate that. Remember that it was Magath, too, who brought Schalke to the CL semi final (actually quarters, but Rangnick took over the team from Magath in March 2011 and didn't change too much then) and a DFB Pokal very recently, too?

Re: Official: Dost leaves Heerenveen for Wolfsburg
Dost does not suit Gladbach. He has poor technical ability,he is more of an out right good scorer with head & feet. That is why Luuk De Jong is called up with the NT & not DOst.Same reason why Makaay was never given a proper shot. Poor skills and with Glabach's fast pace 1 touch football,he wont suit them.

Re: Official: Dost leaves Heerenveen for Wolfsburg
Everton dont really need a striker with Jelavic and have no money anyway so i doubt they actually wanted him.
From those options only BMG is a better choice and as KOEC says he doesnt really suit them.

Re: Official: Dost leaves Heerenveen for Wolfsburg
thanks for the feedback...when you put it this way, Wolfsburg was really his best option.
i never watched Dost play, only some of his goals.
Magath was at Stuttgart some years ago, when Marica was there and the press from my country wrote some pieces about him. i heard he is a good coach and also that he very strict, loves disciplines and tough with the players...figures Wolfsburg needs to spend in order meet Magath's expectation
