Official: Adrian Mutu leaves Fiorentina to join Cesena

Both clubs confirmed that the Romanian striker has left Sinisa Mihajlovic's side to sign a two-year deal at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi



Adrian Mutu has left Fiorentina to join Cesena, the Tuscan club announced on Thursday.

The move comes just two days after Cesena claimed they had dropped an interest in the 32-year-old Romanian.

However, they made a massive U-turn after a fresh round of talks led to a change in stance, and a deal they could all agree upon.

A statement on Fiorentina's official website reads:

"ACF Fiorentina communicates to have sold Adrian Mutu to Cesena Calcio on a permanent basis. The club thanks Adrian for his work over the past few seasons and wish him all the very best for the future."

Those sentiments were echoed by Cesena who, in a statement, said: "Adrian Mutu is a Cesena player. The agreement for the transfer, a two-year deal with the option for a third, was reached today [Thursday]."

Igor Campedelli, the club's president, who just days ago said there would be no move, declared his latest position after the transfer was sealed.

"I am very satisfied with the arrival of Mutu. We have been wanting him to wear this jersey for months, and we are very proud this happened."

Mutu spoke of his delight after moving from the Florence-based side he joined five years ago.

"I am enthusiastic and I cannot wait to start this adventure. I want to thank the president for having put me at the centre of this ambitious project."
