I still think Gomez is among the top strikers in world football and I still think Llorente is right up there with him.

Hasn't been the best of weeks for these 2, but it's lolworthy to judge their whole seasons on a handful of games.

27 is certainly not young, apart from being pulled down in the box by Pique, he did nothing of note in the final, I don't think he'll be starting for Spain, my best bet for the starting slot is between Torres and Soldado.

Llorente is a 6,5ft target man, if you dont feed him, there are only so little ways that he can impact the game. That's the way it it's, he is a finisher, not a creator. It's laughable to expect him to pull something out of a hat

Can someone explain to me why Torres is anywhere near the Spanish national team?

Apart from the QPR hatrick he has scored 3 goals in 29 games ( league) and he has always been trash for Spain....

Llorente has scored 20+ the last 3 seasons on the trot and has a nearly 1 in 2 record for Spain ( mostly from the bench) something Torres is nowhere near.

How any sane people can ever argue this is beyond me

Torres is the most inform Spanish striker at the moment, I'd pick him any day over Soldado, Negredo and Llorente. I fancy him starting, especially if he proves his worth in the friendlies they'll play.

If that's the case why doesn't the same logic apply to Torres?

Because even if you feed Torres, who is working with considerably more tools than Llorente, he still cant score.
