Swiss Cup 2011/12
W00t! FC Basel won the Swiss Cup in a real dramatic cup fight against FC Luzern with 5:3 after penalties. The match went into extra time at 1:1 and in the penalty shoot out, Yann Sommer saved two pens and thus secured the win for Basel.

I could learn from Sommer and how wavy his hair is
Not a bad GK either, shame that Switzerland didnt make the Euros or he could showcase his GKing and hair talents to the rest of Europe

Well, I hope Switzerland will qualify for the WC2014. Their qualifying group consists of Switzerland, Norway, Slovenia, Cyprus, Albania, and Iceland, so it should be pretty likely. Moreover, till then I hope that Yann Sommer will have replaced Diego Benaglio as Swiss Nr.1 ^^Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Not a bad GK either, shame that Switzerland didnt make the Euros or he could showcase his GKing and hair talents to the rest of Europe
I'm afraid, this match was totally not Shaqiri's. The whole Basel team was average at best (except for a certain cute GK). Luzern had by far the better chances and more fighting spirit. It was only due to Yann Sommer's great goal-keeping that the match ended 1:1 after extra time. Basel only had very few shots on goal, while Luzern appeared much more dangerous and the Basel defense was rather dubious compared to Luzern's defense. Fortunately in the penalty shoot-out Basel had the better cards as Sommer saved two of the four pens against him, while Luzern's keeper (who was pretty good, too, nonetheless) let all four shots in.The Messiah wrote:I am happy for Shaqiri, did he play well.

Yann Sommer has a habit to play with the guys who shoot penalties against him:
