Genoa President: “Longo To Genoa Next Season”

Genoa president, Enrico Preziosi, in an interview with Sky talks about the many transfer rumors that are surrounding this club from Destro, Longo to Verratti.

“Longo will come to Genoa, this is already in the agreement. We have gotten him to play here next season and then we will give him back to Milan like Inter have asked us to. His co-ownership status will be renewed then.”

Prezioni then goes on to talk about Mattia Destro:

“Let’s be clear: Mattia Destro is not co-owned with Siena. Siena had him on loan with right to purchase. It is clear that there are many requests for him but Siena had a chance to pick up that option to sign him at a low price. I will ask them not to pick up this option by offering a figure in order to take him back. We’ll see how everything evolves and if this figure is not accepted, we will find other solutions. Many clubs want him from abroad and especially Inter, Juventus and Roma. But my relationships are clear: I have always had a preference for Inter, we have done a lot of business with them and the Nerazurri have a precedence. Then there is the will of the boy that needs to be taken into consideration. Where would Mattia go? I do not know, I haven’t heard from him in a year and a half. I will now leave him on his vacation. Roma and Inter are pressing, Juve much less.”[u]

More on Giovinco and Destro

Inter “made enquiries after Sebastian Giovinco and will see what happens over the next few days,” confirmed director of sport Piero Ausilio.

There were reports over the weekend that the Nerazzurri were trying to intercept the negotiations between Parma and Juventus, the two clubs who co-own the Atomic Ant.

If they do not agree on how to continue the co-ownership deal or sell the remaining 50 per cent of his contract, Giovinco could go to a blind auction.

“We have made enquiries after Giovinco by contacting Parma,” noted Inter director of sport Ausilio on Sky Sport Italia.

“We are tracking the player and will see what happens over the next few days.”

The Nerazzurri are also interested in Siena striker Mattia Destro, currently owned by the Tuscan side and Genoa.

“Destro had a positive campaign and he knows that he was not abandoned by Inter, but rather had to be sacrificed so that Inter could achieve better results in the short-term. Now we’ll see if it’s possible for Destro to have a future at Inter.”

Destro grew up in the Inter youth academy, but was sold to Genoa as part of an exchange deal.

The San Siro giants are celebrating this weekend after winning the Primavera youth team Scudetto.

i wouldn't rely on Cesar too much anymore as he is too inconsistent. Do we still own half of viviano? he's been moved around so many times I lost track on who has his ownership.

He had a great season,can't even imagine how we would finish if he didn't bail us out time and time again...Viviano is 50% ours,we are trying to include him in the deal for Silvestre.And we just paid 2 mill + 2 young players for Bardi...I like Handa but we don't need a keeper.If we sell Cesar then get Viviano FFS...

Longo has potential but needs first team experience, and that we can't offer him... so we sell half of his rights, he gets some time in serie a, then if he lives up to his potential, we buy him back...
