Must I understand? Why Cassetti?

Why? Why keep him? Why is he still being relied on... He's sucks as Fullback. He's old. Slow. Can't defend for his life. It's time for a new right back if you ask me...

We're working on getting a new RB...

He was amongst our most consistent players this season and I had him as our best defender of the season in another thread. He isn't perfect, but he's not terrible by any means.

Very true Mike..He's been our best defender this season imo..


But we still need a new rb ...Which we all know...But we should still keep him as a back up though...

Look back at the 2009/2010 season, Motta had better games than Cassetti yet he was still preferred over him... That's what I mean. I just makes no sense if you ask me.

First it was Ranieri who didnt like'd to put the youth (and the better in this case) in the spot of Casseti.After that season, Motta left, and with this season we didnt have any options, only Casseti and Rosi, Casseti is better in this case .Dunno, it seems that we wont buying a new RB though, thats what i read, that the right back spot is "guaranteed" for Casseti.

Ranieri gave Motta a chance when Cassetti picked up a small injury near the middle of the season. Motta didn't do too well, even costing us a goal against Livorno I believe. Ranieri put him in the dog house and played Burdisso at RB until Cassetti was back...

casetti is nor was and god forbid i hope will never will be our best defender
he would be a good back up to our squad(that is if we buy a couple of defenders)

Between Motta and Cassetti, Ranieri absolutely made the right choice, no doubt about it, and age had nothing to do with it. Motta was a disaster for us defensively and we couldn't afford to play him because we were just leaking in way too many goals. His sense of positioning was just not good enough and as Neal rightfully pointed out, the match against Livorno was the last straw. He was good going forward, but at defending Cassetti was definitely better.

Maybe Cassani will be yours solution for RB

Cassetti sums up Roma; ageing, but much better than you would think.
