Spurs in fact pay similar wages to us, you are in another league in the wages bit.

Spurs dont need a manager to make signings btw, thier signings are made by an independent board not by the manager.

Assuming its all true of course.

Every report suggesting the Spurs deal is "done" has indicated it's because they offered higher wages. Doesn't make sense to take part of the reports as legitimate and write off the other parts.

I had not read any reports as this deal has nothing to do with me.....

I was assuming on the basis Spurs wage bill is a lot smaller than yours that offering higher wages wouldn't be a basis for them to be a more attractive proposition.

If they actually have offered higher wages then fair enough, but i'd be surprised if this were the case and anyway if you really wanted to you could offer more as your wage structure seems to allow you to offer more than Spurs can who even their highest earners don't earn a great deal.

New owners = new wage structure, or did you miss months and months of reports last summer about the club trying to sell players like Jovanovic and Maxi, while loaning out Cole and Aquilani to get them off the wage bill?

The likes of Carroll still earn more than most of Spurs top earners though.....

Even under the new wage structure you are still willing to go higher for a player if you really want him than spurs are.

Based on? Oh yeah, guess work and random reports you've seen. This is my last post on the issue to keep the thread from getting off track, but you've got a habit of making huge assumptions about non-Newcastle sides that gets a bit old after a while.

most of my assumptions were based on facts.... its fact your wage bill and structure is higher than Spurs is it a fact that your average wage is higher than Spurs is.

If you cant continue this discussion without acting like i'm attacking your brother then i see no reason to bother.

According to reports Spurs' offer involves 70k in wages. Liverpool so far not matched that.

Apologies on the last few posts, it's been a frustrating few weeks, with both my employers and universities jerking me around. I could have phrased my earlier posts in a less hostile way and I was being confrontational. That said, I think the key point I made is legitimate. You do tend to make some leaps in judgement when dealing with other clubs that you don't when discussing Newcastle.

On a serious note though, I think we'll be turning our interest back on Ramirez, De Jong, maybe Joe Allen.

I personally want Teemu Pukki, Antoine Griezmann, and a central midfielder.

I don't personally believe that Allen is an improvement over Henderson, so even if Liverpool could get him (not that they can, see my previous post) it would be an unnecessary outlay.

Liverpool need a defensive midfielder before a creative passer at the moment in any case, as Adam and Aquilani are still with the club at this time.

I believe in Shelvey...I hope he gets as much time as possible next year..so Allen to me, being a similar age and having a similar style, isn't neccesary, despite him being a player I quite like.

Wing-Forwad and versatile midfielder would be ideal from my perspective.If we get another Attacking midfielder he needs to offer some degree of width.

Gaston Ramirez is still a possibility. He was played at CF/CAM for Bologna last season, but he is at home on the right-wing as a left footed wide-forward. It's a much more realistic option, he's Uruguayan, and though he wouldn't be cheap, Bologna are more than willing to sell. Gazzetta Dello Sport and Sky Italia were reporting we had made a bid yesterday. More rumors suggest that a meeting with his agent has been scheduled.

The funny thing is somehow everyone who is an Uruguayan is a target of LFC. . . just because Suarez uploaded photos of them together in Twitter ! ! ! i really hope one or two of them would be genuine Sad
