Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
Spain getting exposed without Thiago in the team.
Mata, Isco, Munian etc can't control games yet they're still playing through their midfield for some bizarre reason.
Why isn't Ander starting btw?

Omar A. (15#) is a David Luiz+Luis Nani hybrid (Nani's face with Luiz's hair)

Sturridge what a goal! brilliant pass from Cleverly and a good turn of pass and a class chip, UAE deserves more but they're 3-1 down.

Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
Not to sound harsh, but I don't the UAE deserve more. Their passing and one-two play is excellent, but how many times did they actually test Butland? And there's the fact that their defence and keeper haven't been up to par.

Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
Spain are still losing by a goal with less than 5 minutes to go, as it stands they are out of the tournament.
I thought the UAE had a good chance to go 2-1 up at 1-1, but the striker toe poked the ball to Butland's right leg.

Spain don't really like to lose. Shouting and surrounding the referee + wild tackles at the end. Pathetic really.

Meh, that's normal, but Milia deserves to be lynched for nor starting Ander, in 45 minutes he created more chances and exhibited more control over the game than the rest of the team did over 180.
BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY.
Montoya

Uruguay needs to beat GB in their third game or they'll be packing their bags as well.

Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
Uruguay are not going to beat GB, they are the most overrated side at the Olympics, a shocking display against Senegal today, the only stand out player was Gaston Ramires.

Montoya
Yup Rodrigo missing a wide open header
Montoya had a bad tournament, but Alba was best player with Ander.

What wild tackles?
And ofc the Spanish players would react like that after they were robbed, not to mention the time wasting and acting that even puts Busquets, Drogba and Pepe to shame..

Re: Official Thread of the 2012 Olympic Football Tournament
If Lodeiro, Ramirez, Suarez and Cavani all turn up then it's difficult to see how our backline is going to cope. Tomkins and Caulker really aren't that great. Tomkins is especially a weak-link; slow and frequently loses his man. Any decent striker will give him a torrid time.
Of course, it's possible that both GB and Uruguay will go through if UAE beat Senegal and Uruguay beat GB.

Senegal must be medal favourites at this point in time, I think they'll easily dispose off the UAE, Uruguay don't play much as a team, Cavani looked lost today and Suarez was missing sitters, I can see GB beating them quite comfortably. I tip Senegal and GB to qualify from this group.
