Though to immediatly rain on our own parade: I think maintaining possession is easier in Serie A and my beloved Bundesliga than it is in La Liga, simply because we both have more teams in our league who are perfectly fine sitting back and waiting for a proper chance to counter, and park the bus until that happens.

La Liga has fewer teams like that, it's not like they have none, but fewer. So what Real and Barca do is actually more impressive than what Bayern does. Sadly.

Ever seen Dortmund play? They don't give a sh*t about keeping possession, they're too good at pressing to care, whenever they get the ball, they instantly initiate an attack, and often lose the ball again.

The only Bundesliga team really concerned with keeping possession as one of their prime tactical goals is Bayern, who are very good at that.

Dortmund will park the bus a couple inches from the opposing penalty box and just fire away, los the ball, get it back, and fire away again. AFAIK they got a horrible shot-to-goal ratio as well, they just rack up an enormous amount of attempts.

No but I assumed with Kagawa and Goetze they could manage 55% possession.

One might say the crashed out of the CL because of their poor possession

I'd say they crashed out of the CL because of shitty finishing, but with more possession that certainly would've mattered a bit less.

They average nearly 60% possession and have scored 1 more goal than wolves this season who probably average about 35%.

Swansea have proven Possession means sod all. Keeping the ball between the Midfield and defence is not football, that has been the biggest deceit on the football world.

Surprised Bilbao are so low on the list. They are the team that has managed more possession at the Camp Nou this season.
