the *bleep* ozil is our most important player.. half the season he was dillying and dallying and we were still first , in everything
he had some great matches but as been average in a fair few this year and we have done pretty well
ronaldo our best ' attacking player at least
and casillas and xabi too.. you really cant seggregate the outright best

Ozil is our best attacking player. Benzema and Di Maria after him.

Re: Is Benzema Madrid's best/most important player?
He's been our focal point yesterday instead of CR7. He needed 8 shots in the box to score 2 and didn't do much outside of it. The turnover rate was very high. Our best attacker yesterday was CR7 ( created two goals in the end), Benz was nowhere near as good.BarrileteCosmico wrote:Not a knee-jerk. He provides the difference in the big games. In his last 2 games against Barca he's looked more dangerous than Ronaldo has in the entire time he's been at Madrid, and he currently has more CL goals than him.

CR7 is our most important and constant player in attack, Xabi+Özil in midfield, Ramos and Casillas in defence. CR7 performed better away from home than any other attacker at RM this year. He also scored many of those 0-1. Benz has a very long way to go...

I agree....Ronaldo was far better yesterday. I also agree that Ronaldo is more important...but in many of those 0-1 games Benzema was either injured or simply or their on field roles were reversed.
Mou seems to be directing the team more towards him , but I honestly think it's the wrong direction. He isn't a target man.

Babun is right though, Benz was horrible until Kaka and Marcelo got in.
CR7 played great the whole game.

Re: Is Benzema Madrid's best/most important player?
How could he be the focal point when:
- Shots: CR7 10, Benz 8
- Touches: CR7 83, Benz 70
- Passes: CR7 55, Benz 49
Just because CR7 didn't dominate the ball completely as usual (because his work rate was 20% less than both Higuain and Benz) didn't make Benz the focal point. He worked to get the shots and, as has been average for him for over 18 months now, scored 1 on every 4 shots.
He was meh in first half because of the miss but fantastic from the word go in the second;
He completed 82% of his passes and won 83% of his duels... while taking massive risks with the ball.
CR7 was the one who tanked frankly going 0 for 10.
To get back to the topic, there are only two guys who don't have proper backups. One is Iker and the other is CR7. Everyone else has a quasi-WC backup and is, thus, replaceable. If we sign a Hazard, Neymar, Gotze, etc., you can drop CR7 from the list too.
To me, Iker is the only one Madrid cannot do without.

how can hazard, neymar gotze bring what cr7 does, they are not even fully developed yet and you expect them to score 50 goals per season like ronaldo . break all scoring records like him?
that easy huh?

Re: Is Benzema Madrid's best/most important player?
I think We'd play better as a team with a more traditional winger / AM than CR but that's me and my dream formation bullshit.
I think Higuain could replace the majority of Ronaldo's goals though along with whoever came

Re: Is Benzema Madrid's best/most important player?
If both Benz and Higuain were starting every game, i guarantee you they would each score between 30-40 goals in a season. Benz will get his 30 this year regardless (he's at 27). Higuain might get there too (21 or 22 right now). I would bet that Ozil and Di Maria would pick up scoring too since both Benz and Higuain make the final pass.
In fact, i take it back. CR7 is replaceable now. Only player that cannot be replaced is Iker.

Re: Is Benzema Madrid's best/most important player?
i think Ronaldo is easier to replace than DiMaria
because in Ronaldos absence we can easily slot Benz in there as he usually drifts out there anyways (also that way Ronaldo doesnt have to steal all of Higgys shots/goals all the time) while if DiMaria is injured we have to experiment with all possible line-ups/players that we will ever have available to us and still not find one adequate replacement for him....
we get the results tho, which means we dont rely on anyone

Depends, for Goal Scoring, Ronaldo is. Tactically, Alonso by a mile. He is the lynchpin of Madrids playing style.

Re: Is Benzema Madrid's best/most important player?
Most important is a bit misleading honestly.
Benzema is integral to Madrid's play though. No more than Ronaldo, Ozil, Alonso Pepe, Ramos or Casillas.
He's a vital cog in the Madrid machine.

Indeed. Can we add Ramos to that list too? If it weren't for Gomez atrocious finishing Bayern could've been 4 up.
Benzema is Madrid's most composed player against top opposition.

If we can withstand underserved hyped, then we can understand underserved slander, IMO.
It evens itself out, plus it's completely awesome backing up your beliefs with facts after being told you were wrong by most people.
Alonso is still a good player, though

Re: Is Benzema Madrid's best/most important player?
It's not unrelated. People argued that Benzema was not as important as Xabi, Ramos and Cristiano in the earlier pages. Well lo and behold, a big game happens and these three didn't show up whereas no one complained about Benz's performance.vanDEEZ wrote:pulling up old threads to bash players unrelated to the thread topic

Re: Is Benzema Madrid's best/most important player?
Alonso is more important because functionally he is key. It's not that he shows up in big games, it's that he is tactically the most important player.
Ramos is more important because he holds our defense together organizationally and for his distribution.
Iker is more important for obvious reasons.
Some may consider Benzema to be our best attacker in big games but by no means does that make him our most important player

Re: Is Benzema Madrid's best/most important player?
I'm willing to concede that Iker may be more important, but players are not important if they don't show up when it matters.
Please don't act as if this is the only big game in which Alonso, Xabi, Ramos and sometimes Oezil flop. Benz has consistently become more decisive during these types of games, and therefore more reliable at the higher levels of competition.vanDEEZ wrote:based off of what? 1 game?

Re: Is Benzema Madrid's best/most important player?
ramos had a terrible game, probably the worst hes had this season. he is very important to RM.
take xabi and ronaldo out of the starting line up and see how we do..
bayern played well and was very organized in defense apart from the goal they conceded. its more credit to them.. not that ronaldo and xabi are not important to RM.
