Guardiola: Competition Committee and Referee Technical Committee have lost respect

The Spain international had provoked outrage by suggesting that his dismissal against Sporting Gijon earlier this month had been "premeditated", arguing that he had paid the price for rowing with match official Carballo over a penalty decision which had gone against the Blaugrana earlier in the game.

Pique, though, avoided any further punishment for his red card, other than the mandatory one-game ban, and Guardiola, in spite of Pepe's two-game ban for accusing Jose Luis Paradas Romero of "robbery" after Real Madrid's midweek draw with Villarreal, believes that the Competition Committee and the Referee Technical Committee have effectively backed themselves into a corner by not taking a strong enough stance on such matters of late.

“It’s been a while now that the committees haven’t demanded respect," the Barca coach mused during his press conference after Saturday night's victory at Mallorca.

"We’re at a point where everything is too suspicious. There are too many things that they’ve let pass, and in the end they haven’t made themselves respected.

"Gerard [Pique], with what he said, probably deserved a ban. But they don’t do it, of course, because if there’s another player that says that his team was robbed, they’d have to ban him too.

"This has been going on for a while, and they [the committee] urgently need to re-establish respect."

After their 2-0 triumph in Mallorca, Barca now turn their attention to the Champions League and Wednesday night's meeting with AC Milan at San Siro.

He does realize....that Pepe got a 2 match ban...(for something not said in a press conference I might add) while Pique got a 1 match ban.....and he himself only got a fine for doing something similar.



I agree with him BTW....they haven't particularly asserted themselves, but it isn't any worse than the rash decisions made the English FA.They need to start being more balanced and asserting themselves where applicable.

You are right when you say that pepe was suspended but the committee again how much of a joke they are with how few games he was suspended because according to the rules insulting a ref is a 4 to 12 games suspension. Kluviert for insulting a ref got a 4 game suspension..

He was talking about a player who was screaming that they were robbed and there was only 2 players who did that, pepe and cristiano ronaldo, and seeing as guardiola said "they would have to banned him aswell" gives the impression that he is talking about a player that was was not banned so the logical explanation is that he is talking about cristiano ronaldo seeing as pepe got a 2 game suspension..

@matpol dont forget that real madrid's arbeloa should have been sent off for those 2 penalties that he commited and that lass was forgiven his 2nd yellow as well..

@halamadrid when has pep insulted a ref? I can remember when he has talked to them but I dont remember him ever calling a ref "hijo de puta" which is why pepe was punished..
