Finishing is not who scores the most goals, who scores the most tap ins, who scores the most 1 v 1's...you all realise this right?

Lately it has to be RVP due to the insane way he scores. Left foot, right foot, tap ins, screamers, headers, volleys.

Inb4 "lulz, all RVP dos is tap ins". No he ain't. He manufactures a lot of goals out of pure heavenly desire.

i think in terms of pure finishing ronaldo is quite good, when he hits those long shots he misses the mark but that isnt only finishing is it?

inside the box he is lethal , also very good on one on ones

Higuain's efficiency in front of goal is like 10%-15% higher than that of any one else lol

Ronaldo mostly uses power to score. Messi and Higuain is not just shooting they have too many techniques to score using different ways

Also ronaldo is not a natural finisher, he played as a winger whole his life. he is just lucky that he got powerful shoot and speed which is the main reasons he scores goals. he has no finishing abilities of messi higuain shevchenko or r9

you will say same about messi, but messi played in center of attack from young ages. he was born with dribbling and scoring. at the age of 5 he scored 7 goals every game according to his first coach. but some think that messi became goalscorer in 2008

It's clearly messi, without a doubt. His finishing is so lethal that if you give him an inch, he'll take a mile. He sees that gap as soon as it appears, and he goes for the kill.
He rarely misses good scoring opportunities like the others do. His efficiency in front of goal is unparalleled in world football. Anyone who doesn't see this doesn't watch Messi week in week out. IMO this shouldn't be up for debate.
It's just the bias and the need for debate that makes people pick other players.

im not an RVP fan and i still believe rvp is a better finisher. and i dont hate messi i also believe messi is a better player overall and the best atm but as a finisher i say RVP is better..

Fair enough, you're entitled to your opinion but I don't think you're right.
He may be the closest to Messi in terms of pure finishing but he's still not at his level.
Messi is something else because of his ability to spot that gap when the keeper moves slightly. Those sublime chips and hesitations which draws the goalie are messi's trademarks. Time slows down for him when he has the ball inside the box, or near the box. Seriously, which player has such immense vision where he can chip goalies with ease? sometimes more than once per game!

Van Persie's sniper shots are freakin amazing at times, but Messi's all-around game actually earns him points in the "finishing" department because he can do things that Van Persie can't do as well - like turns, hesitations, fakes, etc. - in order to set himself up for the shots.

If you put 4 targets inside the net and tested both players' shot accuracy, I wouldn't be too surprised if Van Persie won the contest for pure shot accuracy (though its hard to say who would win).

However, I think the term "finishing" does not purely comprise of shot accuracy. There are other elements to finishing, like setting yourself up, and fooling defenders/keepers.

Messi is the best finisher for me as well, he almost always puts it right perfectly out of reach of the goalkeeper, he has so many ways of scoring in his arsenal it's amazing. Not to mention the way he does those quick fake shots before shooting or going around the keeper. After Messi then Higuain and Penaldo in that order.

Gomez is not an excellent finisher....

Neither Messi or CR are natural finishers like Higuain. But Pipita is at the same level for about 2 years.

Sometimes difficult to seperate the creation of chance for yourself and your ability to finish that chance. Messi is clearly the best at the first of these and his finishing is very well adapted to finishing his chances. His chips and 1v1 finishes are brilliant.

Is he the best finisher though? Higuain, Cavani and Ronaldo are also very highly rated by me. Statements like "this player by some distance" I don't have time for.
