Re: Iker Muniain
I would love him at Madrid, but I can't see why Bilbao would sell him.
He could make them a big team. And by big team, I mean European contenders...
With him, Martinez, Llorrente and Bielsa as coach, they can easilly take their first 4th place finish in years and play in the CL... Then they cn afford to pay them very decent salaries, hold on to them and keep nourishing the wealth of Basque talent that they have, and maybe challenge the spanish hegemony as well as make it pretty far in Europe.
The prospects really excite me.

Re: Iker Muniain
Ha, well I should of researched that before I asked.
Honestly though, I was just thinking of Spain's future. Muniain was well ahead of Isco in 2011/12, but I didn't hear much of Iker last season (so 12/13). He was rated as the best youngster in the world at one point... :X

Re: Iker Muniain
Last year he was one of the few carrying Athletic Club creatively & with his havoc created on the left-centre side. What he needs to do is improve his ability to find goalscoring areas & subsequently finish them. His year wasn't as great as the first year under Bielsa, yet judging by this season's game vs Valladolid, he is back to his best when played in a SS role directly ahead an unusually deep Ander Herrera.
Like Müller, his performances go somewhat understated as such is the subtlety with his craft and other days he is just devastating directly. Only 21 and is improving rapidly, a player to watch.

Re: Iker Muniain
Yes, I watched him a few times since I was shocked by his attitude and by the quality football he displayed against Man United two seasons ago; he is a hard worker and even though he is a very technical player with good close ball control and impressive dribbling abilities in tight spaces, he is nevertheless a good team player and he adapts very well to the tactics created by their manager. Obviously, this was a must in Bielsa's era.Arquitescu wrote:Last year he was one of the few carrying Athletic Club creatively & with his havoc created on the left-centre side. Sometimes, his creativity and his tremendous passing vision in the last 30 yards reminds me of a younger David Silva. The guy is still a hot prospect and in my opinion he should leave Bilbao for a bigger club if he wants to become one of the world's greatest.

We could sign Muniain. Now that Chambo is injured. I'm a big fan.

I've jumped ship to just watching Liverpool and some Eredivisie games nowadays, so don't really watch La Liga / Serie A as much as I have in the past.
Didn't hear much of Muniain last year, it was sort as if he fell off the map.
Hopefully he can fulfil his potential in the near future, he looked class a couple of seasons ago when I saw him play.

Really glad that he is back and firing after a couple of mediocre seasons (by his standards, at least).

OMG pretty sure that's Queeny Love next to Muniain. LOL, now I know what to fap to tonight.
Muniain is not only a boss on the pitch but it seems he's also a boss outside of the pitch.

Re: Iker Muniain
Iker Muniain will be sidelined for a period expected to last "between six and seven months" due to a "tear to the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee" which was diagnosed after he was subjected to medical tests today, Tuesday.
The Spaniard was injured in Saturday's game between Sevilla and Athletic and had to be stretchered off the Sánchez Pizjuán pitch with his leg immobilised and the player clearly in great pain.
Following a preliminary examination, he was diagnosed with a "sprain" and remarks by both Ernesto Valverde and some of his teammates alluding to Muniain's mood and how he was feeling in the hours after the game suggested that the injury was not that serious.
Confirmation that he will be out for an extended period means that Athletic have now lost two players for the cup final against Barcelona on 30th May, with Óscar de Marcos ruled out through suspension.

De Marcos is the bigger loss in my opinion, they are really going to miss his work rate.

Re: Iker Muniain
Leaving after so many years. Hard to believe he's not a young talent that Real Madrid fans jerk off to anymore.
It seems to be hard to leave Athletic tbh. I think if he was somewhere else instead he would choose a career path.
Raul Garcia retiring too.

Damn yesterdays greats all going away now. I still remember when Muñain first came onto the scene. Legit thought he'd become a legend but he stood more or less at the same level throughout.
Raul Garcia was always a solid player himself. Him playing at Atletico was the highlight of his career and I think he made it to the NT at some point. I always percieved him as a dependable player.
