Re: Disastrous loss for Liverpool
Adit, that's the story of their whole season. They suck at finishing chances. Give them a proper striker and they'd be far ahead of others in the league because they usually dominate games

Re: Disastrous loss for Liverpool
Liverpool was the better team, but we managed to win somehow someway. I feel for Liverpool fans we were so the past years.
In fact in Emirates we managed to dominate the whole game but lost in the end

Re: Disastrous loss for Liverpool
They've had chances and money to buy an established finisher, they then went out and blew their load on Carroll
Though, Bellamy looks to be the missing link in their armour

The good thing is for us, we've all pretty much given on CL after Bolton loss awhile back. I hope Arsenal get the CL spot. RAWK has exploded right now

For me Bellamy should of come on in the 65th minute, he was the missing link for them to put the ball in the net.
Liverpool looked like Arsenal from the past few seasons pass the other team off the park with no goal.

Who should have started in his place, then?Adit wrote:Shouldve never started Carragher, was super meh.
Carroll has been performing of late, but then you never actually gave him a chance so I wouldn't expect that to change.Adit wrote:Also they shoulve brought a finisher instead of Andy Floping carroll.
I can see why you rate Adam so highly no, RG... put in a great performance for Arsenal for most of the match.

i said you shoudve spend the money on better players, especially a finishe,is that unfair comment? i dont think so.
Re: Disastrous loss for Liverpool
So you want to replace the organiser and vocal leader of the defense, as well as the most experienced player in the backline for the club, with an unseasoned, young player who has little experience with the others and the language... rather than a seasoned, experienced professional who was the leader previously?Adit wrote:RedOranje wrote:Who should have started in his place, then?

Yes, Carragher could and should have done better today. But there is no evidence that Coates would have done better. Facts and previous precedents would suggest otherwise, in fact.

Re: Disastrous loss for Liverpool
liverpool need to stick with what they have and not spend ridiculously. its there fault for spending 100mill wrongly last summer. liverpool need to be very careful because eventually they are going to have to pay all this money back.

Re: Disastrous loss for Liverpool
Poor return for all the money they spent in the summer. To be below N'Castle, who spent just a fraction in comparison and 3 points ahead of Norwich is testament to that in the league. I honestly see no difference compared to Hodgson's team. There's not been an improvement in the league.
They should just concentrate on winning the FA cup now that 4th is all but gone. 2 domestic cups this season would not be a bad return.

Re: Disastrous loss for Liverpool
Carragher was the only real option. Starting Coates would be tantamount to feeding him to the wolves. Carra (though admittedly on the decline if not past it) with all his defensive insight and experience, had trouble and ultimately failed to contain RVP. Coates has barely been used, if at all, in the league this season. To toss him into that situation is just cruel.
I've got to say I find the criticism of Carroll in this situation hilarious. Some people are painting the situation as Liverpool taking their time, shopped around and ultimately came to the decision to sign Carroll... for 20 million more than he was valued for by anyone. Carroll was bought because he was the youngest/most promising available option as emergency cover for the departing Torres. That transfer, more than most, was not made in a vacuum. Please don't make it out as if it were. Additionally, I was disappointed he didn't start today. He's been playing well of late and looked to be building a partnership with Suarez.
As for Summer spending, Comolli has already stated that we won't be seriously overhauling the squad again. ("Comolli warns Liverpool fans not to expect any 'massive' transfer deals in the summer") We will most likely be building upon what has already been established. This makes perfect sense, as our main problem has been finishing, not conceding. (Had we had our first choice defense, we would've won today... just saying.) Moreover, the amount we spent was considerable, but not ManCity-esque when you take into account the outgoing transfers as well. Should Downing, Adam and Hendo come good on their promise, and Liverpool tweaks a few key positions (RW, ST, etc.), Liverpool will be a threatening side.

Given the return from our "big signings," a domestic double would be a dream return.RED 80s. wrote:Poor return for all the money they spent in the summer. Re: Disastrous loss for Liverpool
This was one unfair result tbf, Liverpool domianted and created so much, while Arsenal did ok to stay in it but largely meh....Liverpool's physical play and midfield are so intense now Arsenal couldnt touch them in theat area....but they had VP
