Lansbury is a very talented player, who is highlight rates by Wenger and the England set up. I read he signed a contract extension recently- not like that means much these days.

I'd like to see him get more of an opportunity next season. But when Wenger signs players like Eisfield, it doesn't exactly install confidence in someone like Lansbury..

I don't usually use the term 'the next...' often, but imho, Lansbury reminds me of Steven Gerrard, a lot.

I agree. But I think the competition in our youth is very healthy and only the absolute cream are going to make it from them. We have Frimpong, Wilshere and Ramsey who have a taste of first team. Add to that, Coquelin.

Then there is Lansbury and Eisfeld of the same generation. Then we have the likes of Ozyakup, Aneke and Ebicilio. Then there is Toral. That is a lot of young midfielders competing for regular football in a 3 man midfield.

Song, Arteta, Ramsey and Rosicky rotate in those positions now. I see Wilshere and Ramsey taking over as they return from injury and poor form, from Arteta and Ramsey. Song will have competition from Frimpong and Coquelin would rotate with Song/Frimpong and Wilshere/Arteta. If I put it that way, I can see why Lansbury is on loan.

Somehow, I think Lansbury is better off in a 4 man midfield.

[P.S.: Note that I have not included Diaby and Denilson, who are still at the club. Or Arshavin, since we play him only on the wing when he is here]

True, good competition is healthy competition. I'd just hate to see us lose a player like Lansbury, who's been at Arsenal for so long, because he wasn't given a fair crack at the whip.

Did you see the England u21 last night? if so, then you'd have noticed Lans' playing behind Sodell, with Zaha and Ox', either side of him, in a 3 man attacking midfield. Henderson and McEachran did doing the holding roles.

I think this highlights Lans' flexibility in the midfield position. He could easily adapt into a 4-4-2, 4-5-1 and 4-3-3. He scored 2 fantastic goals too.

Oh! I didn't watch the match, unfortunately. But that puts him in the same bracket as Coquelin for me - a versatile midfielder.

Wenger loves versatile players. I think this is a good sign for Lansbury..

I'd actually say he's similar to Ramsey, as they both specialise in the box-to-box role. Coq' is more of a tenacious player, that uses the upper body strength a lot- just like Frimpong. You could probably find highlights of yesterday game online somewhere. Ox also scored a pen and did very well.

Lansbury has played behind the striker a lot for England U21's and has always excelled there. As far as intelligence goes, he's clearly a cut above the likes of Henderson and McEachran and a big reason for our U21's current good form is Lansbury's form. He links up well with Chamberlain, too.

Even at last years U21 Euros he was one of our best players despite playing conisderably less than the other midfielders. Every time he came on we looked a better side.

Good work rate, good stamina, intelligent movement, very good passing and finishing abilty, decent at set-pieces... no reason why this guy should not be used in the first team next season.

I saw Lansbury's wonder goal. Brilliant vision there! We play Ramsey higher up and Arteta and Song in a deeper role. Thats why I wasn't sure if Lansbury would fit in there. But if what you are saying about his performance yesterday is right - then he should be given some thought in that part of the midfield too.

Alex Song has made 10 assists so far this season in 33 games - 2 more than the amount he's made in the last 3 seasons combined in 128 games.

Liverpool are unbeaten at home this season

They have, however, drawn eight of their 12 league fixtures at Anfield this season

Arsenal have not lost in the Premier League at Anfield since March 2007

Arsenal themselves have won five of their 13 matches on the road this
season

Luis Suarez leads the Liverpool scoring charts this season with 10 goals in all competitions. Robin van Persie has 29

Liverpool have kept things tight at the back so far this season, conceding just 23 goals in the Premier League. Only Manchester City boast a better defensive record

Kenny Dalglish's side have scored just 29, ranking them 13th in the division
Liverpool have not picked up any points from games in which they have conceded more than one goal

Only Wolves (14) have gained more points from losing positions than Arsenal (13)

Every time I see Park, I get upset for the lad. He could be getting 90mins a week at Lille, but chose Arsenal. Wenger deceived him!

TOWN STARLET JOINS ARSENAL
Posted on: Fri 02 Mar 2012

Highly-rated winger Tarum Dawkins has become the latest product of the Town's academy to sign for a Premier League club.

The 16-year-old has signed for Arsenal for a significant transfer fee, a month after the Hatters revealed the sale of Rio, Cole and Jay Dasilva to Chelsea.

Tarum's move to the Emirates Stadiums comes after three years with the Hatters' celebrated youth programme that saw the midfielder develop from a player playing in the lower divisions of the Chiltern Youth League to one monitored by all of the top clubs in the country.
Head of Youth Gregg Broughton told lutontown.co.uk: "This deal has been a lot more drawn out than others completed by the club in the last two years, and this reflects the level of interest show in Tarum.

"Immediately after our loss in the play-offs last season we were told that Tarum felt his future lay away from Kenilworth Road, and now after nine months of negotiations, we are delighted that Tarum has found a club that he feels can help him fulfil his dream of playing at the highest level.

"He is very quick both with and without the football, can play off both feet and therefore he will fit in very well with Arsenal's style of play. Playing on either wing he is capable of beating full backs on both the inside and outside making him very difficult to play against.

"Tarum initially started in our Performance Centre at Crawley Green and, after impressing in this environment he was promoted to the Centre of Excellence as an Under-13. Last season he regularly played up a year in the Under-16s where he was regularly monitored by the England scouts and most of the Premier League clubs.

"Despite the club's current non-league status, we continue to produce players with Premier League pedigree. Whilst we have now sold a number of elite players, it must be recognised that these youngsters have joined some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

"We still retain a large number of excellent young footballers across all of the age groups, as is demonstrated by the six recent first team debuts. Luton Town is still recognised as one of the foremost breeding grounds for identifying and developing Premier League players in the country.

"We never like to lose talented players from the club, but after sitting down with Tarum and his family last month we recognised that he was desperate to join Arsenal, and as I have said before, if players are unsettled and wish to look elsewhere, and the deal is right for all parties, then it is the most sensible way to progress.

"We would like to thank Arsenal for the professional manner in which they have conducted themselves and wish Tarum the very best for his ongoing career."

luton town
cheers
