Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
I recall Montpellier's chairman, being quite the eccentric character, had previously stated that they would only sell Giroud for something like £40mil. Perhaps newpapers are just bringing that back up again.
In any case, there's no need for him if van Persie stays and Podolski signs. Similarly, there isn't a need for M'Vila, either, because we have Song and Coquelin and even if you play Song in a different midfield role we still have five or six other midfielders.

Well if we clear out the likes of Chamakh and Bendtner, we would be lacking an aerial dimension to our game.
Giroud may be pricey, but he fits the Wenger profile; young, French, with lots of potential.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
Even so, where would he fit in a line up with RVP and Podolski ahead of him. Someone who has emerged as a talent of his caliber wouldn't be content with the bench for too long. That's why the Podolski AND Giroud rumors bug me because the only rational conclusion is that they're here to replace RVP.
Worse comes to worse and RVP decides to seek greener pastures, I think a Giroud, Podolski combo would be very clinical. Obviously they would need time to work every kink out but with Bendtner on the bench (yeah that's not gonna happen, but I'm hoping RVP leaving won't either) and Chamakh and Park being sold, we'd have a pretty deadly striking force.
Of course, the ideal scenario is an RVP contract extension and Podolski signing.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
The Montpellier chairman talks a lot, and not a lot of what he says is true.
--------------------
French legend Macel Desailly has urged Arsene Wenger to sign Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila this summer.
Desailly - "If I was the chairman of a Premier League club I'd just close my eyes and put the figure on the cheque to get M'Vila."
Desailly - "Arsenal is a stable club where M'Vila can have some more time. We want him in the Premier League because it's the best."
Desailly - "Once you understand M'Vila, you'll see he is better than Patrick Vieira was."
(Caution: He once said this about Mavuba.)

Seems like PR move from Desailly, what's with all the begging Arsenal to move in for M'Vila all the sudden, I'm sure with that much talent he could find big club no problem.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
Bayern president Uli Hoeness insists the Bundesliga giants are NOT in the hunt for Giroud, although they are hoping to add to their forward line this summer.
He told RTL: "He was impressive when he played for France in the friendly against Germany. But he is a player who is very similar to Mario Gomez and we are looking for a striker to complement his style.

just because we're interested in strikers doesnt rationally mean RvP is leaving.
im actually all for giroud if he's as good as he's been billed. guys get hurt, especially here at Arsenal. as long as you can afford them and manage their egos, you CANT have too many good players on your team.

If RVP and Podolski staying/becoming Gunners is a given then there should be no truth to the Giroud rumors as it would force one of the three to the bench. If we had all three then the only way even two of them could play without entirely changing our tactics would be to put Podolski on the left over Gervinho which is benching another good talent. Even if you're able to afford and manage their egos, big players need consistent playing time to maintain form and remain big players, just take a look at Chamakh's form this year.

well if wenger cant adequately set up squad rotation that's his flaw. there's plenty of games to go around. van Persie shouldnt be starting every single game anyways. there are multiple competitions we should be involved in as well, and like i said, guys get hurt.

Arsene Wenger is considering signing Hoffeinheim midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson this summer.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
I would be very happy with Glyfi Sigurdsson. On top of the creativity he has, he is very good in front of goal, can bang them in from range and is excellent at set-peices - all things our midfield lacks.
Of course, the issue of having seven or so midfielders already still stands.

Agree with all of this Jay.
Will be a good signing for £6m (reported price)
Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
one of the players i have enjoyed watching every time have seen him with his composure, creativity and goal scoring
but never taught of seeing him in Arsenal shirt
would be interesting to see how he does along side better players

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
Sounds good, maybe we drop a few midfielders in the summer? (Diaby, Benayoun obviously, loan out Coquelin and Frimpong if their attitudes can handle that) Even so we'd still have Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey, Songo and Rosicky.
Apparently Man City are ready to sell Balotelli.
Would anyone want him for say 20 million?
I know, I know, the attitude but he's just hilarious.

There's no place for Sigurdsson, M'Vila or any other midfielder. The midfield is filled.

Re: Latest Arsenal Rumours
The midfield might be filled, but some players are just not good enough. Even with Wilshere back, our only backup is Rosicky who while awesome, I don't think he can handle a whole intense season. You also have to factor in injuries.
I really don't want to see Ramsey at AM anymore. He's clearly a CM. He should be given more rotation time with Arteta.
I'd hate. hate Ballotelli at Arsenal. His attitude issues are not going to improve at Arsenal. He wants Milan and that's that. Nevermind his wages. Who cares about Ballotelli when you have Podolski?
What we need is for our players to all have personal medics so they are never injured again, like van Persie

We should loan out Ramsey and keep Coquelin...
and Balotelli is going back to Inter

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is set for a summer clearout of his strikers.
Marouane Chamakh is certainly gone after his shisha pipe episode.
And the Daily Mail says Arsenal will also put Nicklas Bendtner, Park Chu-young and Carlos Vela up for sale.

Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay has reaffirmed hopes of securing on-loan Arsenal striker Carlos Vela to a permanent deal.
The Mexico international has impressed in San Sebastian this season.
"It is true, we want the player and we are prepared to fight to close the deal," said Aperribay. "At the moment things have stopped because Arsenal only want to speak at the end of the season.
"It will not be easy, but Vela wants to stay here and that could be crucial in the negotiations."
