Re: Who is the best Spanish Striker?
Why do people say Negredo is a Real Madrid product.
Rayo youth.

Re: Who is the best Spanish Striker?
Well, Raul is out of the NT and as much as I would love it its counterproductive to bring him back. That era is over.
Soldado, with Llorente a close second. I would rotate them, perhaps. As a third striker, Negredo, and those three are sufficiently young not to need Adrian and Rodrigo.

Re: Who is the best Spanish Striker?
Villa used as a striker is still the best imo. Since the World Cup he has been used as a winger and is obviously injured right now but if he were to get moved back to the front as the lone striker like he was with Valencia he would be top of that list imo.
Torres might as well be playing for 2nd division team in Spain at the moment and Negredo is over rated. Raul is still better than everybody on that list and Soldado and Llorente deserve to be on the NT regurlaly

Lion King, they should give him a run of games in Spanish NT. It's due for a long time

I think though, you have a better chance of keeping Saldado quite because Llorente is such a presence, regardless of he scored or not.
Agreed about Llorente's presence. His performance vs Portugal at the world cup comes to mind.

Villa is still best, Llorente second best, Soldado on the best form and by form itself deserves a starting spot on the NT.

Re: Who is the best Spanish Striker?
You're bringing JT into this??
JT wasn't even a CB at the West Ham academy, he was a midfielder. He got converted to CB at Chelsea because of shortage of cover in that area. And he joined Chelsea at 14, the same age your beloved Raul joined you who you consider a Madrid product.
Now Negredo is clearly a Rayo product and in fact he joined Madrid at 19 (according to WIKI).
Not that all this really matters, just responding to OP's claim.

Re: Who is the best Spanish Striker?
Lol I'm trolling, but they spent the same amount of time in their respective youth teams before moving on.....in JT's case getting promoted, in Negredo's case being sold.
I'm in no way saying that John Terry isn't a Chelsea youth product.....just saying that whether or not he was 19 dosen't really matter considering he spent the same amount of time being developed at Real Madrid.

Re: Who is the best Spanish Striker?
Its actually a very tricky question.
David Villa playing as CF and on form would be my pick without a doubt as then he is the best striker in the world for me.
Torres when ON FORM as well.
As otherwise I would take Llorente easily over anyone else since every time he is on for us he makes the frontline play better as his ONLY average game was against Italia in the friendly.
He is the most complete Spanish striker as well.
Soldado? Love the guy as he is very clinical as Espana need that instinct in the box and VDB needs to give him a chance.
Negredo? Why is this piece of trash even in there? I'd put Bojan ahead of him.

Re: Who is the best Spanish Striker?
The CF position (Villa or not) should go to Fernando Llorente, he is exactly what that position demands, as you don't only look at the goal-scoring, Llorente gives you an extra bit of game-plan.
Besides, with everyone in the Spanish national team able to chip in with goals from Silva to Pedro, Iniesta, Cazorla, Cesc down to Ramos and Puyol, Pique etc, you don't really need a prolific poacher or anything.
Someone joked earlier in this thread that Callejon should get a look in. I would agree with that but not for the CF position. If you played him in the Right WF position in a 4-3-3 with maybe Silva/Munaian as the left WF and Llorente through the middle, that would be deadly.
Callejon is in better form than Pedro at the moment, they should duel each other for the R-WF position in the NT.
Re: Who is the best Spanish Striker?
Sadly, my answer would have been easily David Villa but he is out of form and injured. For Spain, Llorente would be ideally the preferred choice for me. Whilst Soldado is the better goal scorer (after years of me making fun of him, he finally gets better), Llorente honestly would give a better presence in the box. The problem is that Spain either doesn't cross the ball and when they do, it isn't any good (Navas, Ramos) and neither do they play long balls. Everything is ball to feet mostly. That shouldn't be an issue for Llorente but he isn't as mobile as Soldado so that maybe a concern.
But all this is unnecessary as we all know that billy goat Torres would start, you know, best passing striker in the world...
Oh and Callejon on his bestest day wouldn't make the starting 11 for Spain. Sadly and truthfully, there are more talented players than him. Also, Negredo isn't all that good...

Blasphemy! Doc, how are we going to keep on building Callejon with a "GOAT" persona if you go around saying stuff like this?
Re: Who is the best Spanish Striker?
Depends what tactical approach Spain plays.Doc wrote:

If the team were structured around, say, Silva, he would fit well, IMHO.

TBH, I'd try Mata as a CF as he is the closest player Spain have to Messi.

YEah indeed , and even if spain doesn't find the way to score by using barca-style, they can play through ball or cross the ball for him. As they got Navas who is quite fast plus torres whose passing is exellent for a striker they can play LLorente. ( Torres as a second-striker 9 1/2 ?? i don't know how to call it in english will be terrible if he feels confident )
Problem : No more time for adjustements

Re: Who is the best Spanish Striker?
Just a question for La Liga followers...how has Guiza been doing? Cuz 4-5 years ago, (before he went to Turkey and dropped off the radar) he was incredible. On the same level as Torres and Villa at the time even.

Re: Who is the best Spanish Striker?
Prefer Llorente personally.
He's got a bit more in his locker than Soldado overall.
If he improves his finishing, he could very well be Spain's answer to Mario Gomez. He's got everything else already well in hand to be one of the best.
