Is Real Madrid the best counter attacking team in the world atm?
So far this season across Europe's five major leagues, the BPL, LigaBBVA, Ligue 1, Serie A and the Bundesliga, Real Madrid has claimed top spot for the most fastbreak goals and not by a small amount either.
In the BPL the fastbreak leaders are Manchester City and Arsenal with 5 goals a piece, followed by Fulham with 3.
In Ligue 1, PSG lead the line with 5 followed closely by Marseille, Lyon and Nancy with 4.
In the Serie A we have Genoa with 6 followed by Napoli, Udinese, Palermo and Parma with 4.
In the Bundesliga we have slighter better numbers with Shalke leading with 8 and Borussia Dortmund and FC Cologne following closely with 7.
Finally we come to LigaBBVA, following in second to Real Madrid we have Santander in second with 4.
Apart from the Bundesliga who has slightly higher numbers, the fastbreak goal leaders across the top 5 European leagues is fairly similar.
Now to Real Madrid who have scored an astonishing 12 goals from fastbreaks this season and for a team that rarely sits back (inc Barcelona jokes) I think it's a pretty astonishing feat.
Under Mourinho Real Madrid has turned itself into the premier counter-attacking team. Under Pellegrini Real Madrid managed just 10 fast break goals all season in 2009-2010. In Jose's first season with the team in 2010-2011 he more than doubled that number to 24 and looks set to hit that number (or possibly more) again.
During the entirety of last season, 2010/2011, in the Serie A no team managed more than 12 (Udinese), the BPL, Man Utd and Wigan led with 5 a piece, the Bundesliga, Stuttgart with 10, Ligue 1, Lille with 12 and in LigaBBVA second to Madrid was Valencia with 14, still 10 behind Real Madrid.
But then we will have the detractors saying La Liga is weak and yadda-yadda etc etc. But then again Madrid having been doing the same thing in Europe as well.
So what are your opinions? What other teams do you feel are better at scoring on the break and why? Or do you agree that Real Madrid is currently the best in the world in this regard atm?
Some examples:
(not all of these are technically considered a fastbreak, but you get the idea of how fast Real Madrid can transition from one side of the field to the next)
*all statistics taken from the respective leagues and nothing more, they are not indicative of a combined total from other competitions.

Maybe since they also play in CL against quality teams.
Bayern as a possession side are great to watch too.
BVB and BMG especially BMG are simply awesome.

Surag Bundesliga convert
But yeah, Madrid are. Napoli maybe when they feel like it are also pretty damn good.
If we include NTs, Germany takes the cake, though.

Well, I wanted to mention BMG, too. Hopefully they'll qualify for CL next season and can compensate the loss of Reus & Neustädter.

Yeah Udinese are more eye-catching than them imo.Last season they were so entertaining with Sanchez.
Napoli have been pretty wasteful this season(Cavani has been underwhelming ),Udinese too but to a lesser extent.

Yes, I think so.
But with 60% possession, they dont get to do it quite so often as say, Napoli.

napoli is better than real madrid at counters...they proved themselves doing it in the champions league in the group of death...real madrids only claim to that title can be raping small teams in their league....nothing else.

If we go by your logic, is Barca a small team?
