Oh my, read through the comments on here first before I decided to post, can't say that I'm here to calm the flames!

Anyways, He was abysmal again last night against Chile.. Especially, I think, the second goal he was completely flat-footed.. but that what he is most of the time, flat-footed and slow to react, urrghh, he makes me so angry!

I almost want that Botia kid to play for the NT ahead of him, because he truly has nothing to offer. He can kind of pick a pass from deep, but most good centre-halfs can anyway.

too slow to think
turns slower than an ox-wagon with square wheels
no pace
no confidence on the ball
no awareness for the game

= No good.

*We need to ship this guy out as soon as possible. I honestly hope he is behind Varane in the pecking order this year.

My analysis (spanish view).. He is awful. We need to replace him with Botia and Dominquez (and possibly Javi Martinez). We need before next WC to replace him, Puyol and Marchena.

With Real Madrid, he is likely gone next summer. There are teams like Valencia that want him. Let's replace him with Botia.

Not the worst 3rd or 4th choice centre back in the world. The fact that he's Spanish alone is a reason to keep him in the side. I'm a bit surprised though that he was given a 5 year contract considering that he'll be almost 32 when this contract ends.

I'd rather have given him a three year contract, and sell him if he does not break into the first team in the next season or two or gets dropped from the Spain NT.
