Umm well I´m sixteen years old and I still haven´t decided my football position. I feel like there isn´t a position for me :/. In my club full of kids my own age or around that. Im a Right or Left MIdfielder and occasionally back. When I play in an adult league I typically play CDM OR CB. Im 6´3 qucik for my height but not pacey by any means. Its hard to find someone who´ñll burn me in pace as im good at positioning myself. Im a good tackler, im really good at dealing with skilled and pacey players without having to tackle them. My long passing is excellent and short passing and vision is really good. I get indecisive when I have lots of space and time like if no one pressures me i literally stand and hold the ball for way too long and i dont know wat to do. My dribbling is not that that good but considering my height its above average. I feel much more cofterable playing in confined space playing quick one touch passes where i dont have time to think. Under tight spaces with lots of presure liek those my close control is really good and everything comes naturally to me and i suddenly start to pick out correct passes really quckly . Its really wierd and i dont know if im making sense. My crossing is reallly good. Im creative and my shooting is good. My finsihing is absoulte garbage and im not that good at headering

I've got ya picked out as a RB/LB or DM

Get on it bro!

Nah but you'll find out in time, dunno how you haven't yet, but it really depends on the team and if you offer as many skills as you say you do, you'll find your place and you'll be put in a position. Then just focus on being the best in that position.

Yeah, I'd say either CDM or CB, probably CDM because of how you described your passing, defensive positioning, etc.

DM would be the best place for you, with being able to move back into a Defensive position while one of the Defender is attacking....

Sounds like a DM to me, and remember the best DM the games seen makelele couldnt shoot at all (only 1 league goal for chelsea) and neither can players like mikel (only goal for chelsea is in CC) and romeu

you can cement your place in the team as a DM by working on your postioning, tackling and distribution and if you can form a sold triangle through the centre with your two CBs from which you sheild the defence, break down/slow down build ups and generally allow the other midfeilders to push up more then you will become a vital part of the team

also if youve got a david luiz like ball playing centre half in your team you'll be able to slot into his CB postion if he pushes up too

as for your issue when given too much time on the ball, dont worry about it itll fix itself with time, just try not to think too much and play the first safe pass you can see

Thanks everyone! My father was a DM and he always trie dto teach me how to be one and play in a central position and then I joined my club 3 or 4 years ago and ive always been used in wide positions ive never once played in a central postion not even in practice, but I dont truly feel cofterable there. I was planning on trying as hard as I can to try and get a sports scholarship along with the scholarships im getting for my grades because i cant pay for my tution without them and you know if something else turns up like a chance at a real career Razz haha but i honestly doubt it. But I feel none of that is even possible form a wide postion. And also The thing about when give too much time on the ball really frusterates me because im so cofterable and quick under pressure, it doesnt make sense. And fatman i do have a ball playing center half in my team lol hes brazillian and his name is lucas! :p

I'd favor more DM than CB, due to his on ball time problem. But don't worry about it, if you can work under pressure then all you need is more practice and to be totally relaxed for you to think well when not under pressure.

Tackling, positional ability, good short passing and good close control are all perfect for a deep midfield role.

Hell, if you work on your on the ball problem you could even make a good regista if your passing is that good and you are creative. Finishing is not needed for these positions, so don't sweat it.

Meh your just indecisive.

It's all about the footballing IQ in that case. You gotta do what's best for the team if your given time, which is something not often given in football.

When you have the ball and you have a lot of time, look for what needs to be done, if you haven't an idea what to do, do one of the two most basic things in football.

Go forward.
Pass.

Which one is definitely up to your discretion of course, but sometimes you just gotta go back to basics. In time after this you'll just get better naturally and instinctively know what to do. It all depends on the situation, as well, of course.

Dunno if this is great advice but I thought I'd chip in.

Good luck bro Very Happy

sorry if i was a bother to anyone

Your not. We're here to help! Those who you are being a bother to just won't post. Simple. Then you are no longer a bother. No one here thinks this thread was a bother in the first place, anyway, we all love to help Smile

Bingo. When you're facing pressure, you're not thinking as much, just playing off your instincts. Try to have that mentality even in open areas with time and space, I know it's easier said than done. But you'll figure it out.
