Lawl Very Happy Idrisozet's magic at work.

My mistake. Darren could be slotted after Ribéry, since we know English > German.

Ribéry is SAF-German, I guess. Bloody "Germans", as usual... Best playmaker by the IFFHS - Page 2 Rofl_smilie

So if you dont play the final ball you are not a playmaker?

So if Xavi a playmaker? He used to play the final ball but when Messi came into the center he does it less often.

Not saying your definition is wrong, im just confused by the whole subject lol

Playmaker: able to dictate the tempo of a game, the main cog in the teams style of play and is essential in getting the ball forward into attacking positions. Gets a fair number of assists and chips in with some goals.

My definition.

I like this one. Though I dont think goals or assists generally matter. Assist rely on players finishing..so if you got Torres, good luck with that lol

But yeah, I like this one.

Di Maria and people like this have no buisness in these kinds of lists.

There are deep lying play makers (Pirlo) and those who link the midfield and attack (Sneijder).

The registas dictate the tempo and control the midfield. Those who play in a more advanced position provide the final ball.

Izzy's is pretty good. Basically the guy who's always the main conduct of attack, whether it be deep or from an advanced position. Doesn't necessarily have to have many assists, though, else Xavi would be average.

But can you compare the two?

Can you saw one is doing a better job than another?

When Snijeder was playing well, can you compare him to a prime Pirlo?

I only meant a playmaker capable of producing the final pass as well..

Oezil is pretty much the playmaker of Germany but again he spends most of the time in the final third..

Sneijder the playmaker of Internazionale where every attacking move went through him who is another trequartista..

That doesnt mean Xavi and Pirlo are not playmakers though as they pretty much dictate the tempo of the game and orchestrate play for their respective teams..

I stand by my original definition..Playmakers are attacking move generators whether from a deeper position or an advanced position depending on the team's setup..

Nope and that is why I classed them into two different ones.

Xavi for example will control the game and midfield. Sneijder will play behind the striker and provide assists and score a fair amount of goals.

Can there be two playmaker in one team?

Are Xavi and Messi both playmakers? Bastian and Ozil?

Imo you can.

Alonso is a Regista for Real Madrid and I don't think he has problems playing with Ozil our Trequartista.

Makes sense. But what seems to be happening here is we all generally agree there are different types of playmakers and comparing one type to another dont make sense.

Therefore a list like this cant really exsist.

It depends on the teams setup as well..

Like Internazionale of 09-10 where Mou deployed two DM's and Sneijder was the one orchestrating play..

You know just an example..

Yes. Kroos has only been in form for a few months, while Ribéry has been tearing shit up hard since last season, even with Bayern in horrible form. One of the few good players apart from Gomez during the van Gaal clusterfrack. Still in great form this season, so he gets the vote ahead of Kroos.

Kroos will definitely get up there, but give him time.

Iniesta is basically a small version of whatever Zidane was.

People would probably be surprised by the lack of final ball numbers Zidane gave.

Those two (and others) are just different types of guys to me. Sort of centermid, sort of number 10, sort of attacking midfield who drifts over to either side of the pitch.

Don't let Ribéry's winger past let you fool you. He's not as fast or as agile as before, so he has made up for it in other ways. He has improved workrate, is smarter during his runs and his passes are pinpoint. Nevermind his movement which opens up defenses, but that's not really part of being a playmaker.

The point is, that he was Bayern's playmaker when Kroos was on the bench and Müller starting, and is still a very key player when it comes to serving Gomez final balls (which is what a playmaker in Bayern must do Very Happy).

This would sound crazy, but I would like to think you are describing a play maker between the regista and the trequartista. Kinda like an intermediate playmaker lol. Very Happy
