AS Roma January Transfer thread

Hope everyone is enjoying their Holidays. Had a great Christmas myself and I'm looking forward to an equally great New Year's Eve.

Obviously we need more signings so this thread is for an official discussion on that. Who should we be looking at? Who's realistically available next month? All that can be talked about here.

I've had plenty of time to follow our potential moves for next month and we seem to be closely linked with Vedran Corluka, Fredy Guarin and Nilmar.

left back i think we're good with at least until the end of the season. we're seeing the second coming of taddei. and i think angel can only get better with time. he just needs to adapt. no need to rotate between newguy/angel/taddei

we need a runyourassoff centermidfielder, because pjanic/gago/pizarro provide no workrate. perrotta is getting past it

and maybe a new forward, especially if we decide to recycle borriello

I think Guarin could be that midfielder for us, Schnix. LE's midfield isn't that much different from the one Villas-Boas used with Porto. Guarin's best work has come from the playing in the engine room as well.

Nilamr is not needed,do we really want to blow 20 million plus on a 27 year old is just coming back from a pretty nasty injury.No thanks...

It's just rumor but Parma seems to be inches away from Simplicio (100%) & Okaka (50%) in return for Borini (remaining 50%) plus some money. Hope the deal goes through.

Well most of us are in relative agreement with you, Chaval. We'd much prefer defensive reinforcements, but that's not LE's focus and considering he pushed hard for Nilmar in the summer....he appears to be determined to get him.

I'd be happy enough just getting Corluka alone.

What about Casemiro? What do english language newspapers and things like that say about him? 'Cause I read that if Porto doesn't lower their asking price, Sabatini thinks he can get Casemiro for 8-9 mil

Pretty sure Casemiro won't leave Sao Paulo in Jan. He just signed a new contract, but I think we have a good chance of getting him in the summer.

But how good is he? Worth the 10 million euros? Or is he just the same as DDR?

Guarin is definitely our top target, it seems pretty obvious now. Vocegiallorossa say that we're only missing an agreement with Porto, as we have already reached an agreement with the player.

I personally want defensive improvements. First, we need to sell Cassetti and Cicinho. I like how Rosi has been playing, so I don't want a new right back just yet. Seeing as how Heinze is rumored to be leaving in June and Juan is becoming evermore fragile, we need a new center back now. I really hope we take a look at Bocchetti, I'm still confident that he could improve.

i dont think we can "hold off" until july with this one. all we need is another injury/suspension and we'll be stuck with cassetti/derossi playing centerback again

i don't wanna see cassetti playing centerback ever again after this



we really should get a centerback this transfer window considering burdisso's still on the OPT

ancelotti's going to PSG, which means LE's job security is 1/2 step safer

I actually don't mind LE, while everyone seems to dislike or even hate him.. I would be happy with Bruno Uvini because he's young, costs only 5 mil, and is good for a sub, for now.. we will NEED a CL quality center back in july though

Meh, I have my eyes on this season and not next season for the time being. We need to plug those gaps at the back with Burdisso out, Kjaer and Juan injury-prone, Cassetti inept, De Rossi wasted at CB and Heinze could be potentially overplayed at CB....we need more depth in the middle of that defense and it can't wait until July unfortunately.

Kjaer should be back by the 15 of january, and I don't consider DDR "wasted" at CB, not only does he have his effect on the whole of the defense, if we get a decent midfielder this transfer window (Guarin, Casemiro) then it won't be such a loss. We need to invest 20 mil in a frickin good CB IMO
