For all of the crap Mertesacker has been given for his pace, not ONCE has it ever caused him a problem ever since he came.
Even if we deploy Mertesacker, it won't make a difference. Defense is a team game and he will always have either Koscielny or Vermaelen next to him, who both have tremendous pace anyway.

Don't underestimate our Speed. We actually know how to use it. Parking the Bus or filling the Mifield with DM's is the best way to Counter us though.

also, would you day Diego Alves or Guaita are as good as Sczcesny?

Here's the thing about Szczesny; he's all about confidence. I've never seen a player so confident when coming out to meet a cross or commanding his area, and that is something that not many have. (De Gaea's recent exploits in the EPL have highlighted this). Szczesny lets in too many goals from far out and that is his main weakness. Sometimes we concede goals we shouldn't have because of that; however, inside the box, he is more than fantastic. His reactions are almost perfect, on one-v-ones he is great, he can make incredible penalty saves and there are very few goalkeepers that are as good as him in the air....but he still has a major flaw of letting in too many shots from afar, which is why his save % isn't so impressive.

I don't watch Valencia enough to judge their keepers, so you'll have to fill me in on them.

in the first chance qpr had yesterday he had like 5 metres head start on bothroyd or whoever it was, got overtaken and szczesny had to make a 1 on 1 save... and that was just what i remember from 45 minutes yesterday lmao

Diego Alves is as good as Szczesny, if not better.

Excellent reactions, great shot & penalty stopper. Lacks a bit in high balls, but is good at stopping them.

Same with Guaita pretty much
