Juve target Borriello loan

Serie A leaders Juventus are ready to make Roma an offer to take Marco Borriello on loan during the January transfer window.

Borriello is looking for a capital exit after failing to break into the first team plans of Spanish boss Luis Enrique.

The 29-year-old, signed outright by Roma in the summer for €10m after his one season on loan from Milan, has started just two Serie A games this term.

The former Genoa player has failed to score in his seven appearances which have totalled just 231 minutes of action.

Borriello has been linked with a variety of clubs, but the Old Lady had not been associated with any widespread reports until today.

Juventus actually made an effort to sign Borriello from Milan in the summer of 2010, but he opted to move to the Stadio Olimpico instead.

The Old Lady then decided to sign Fabio Quagliarella from Napoli.

It’s unclear whether Roma are willing to loan Borriello to Juve, with some reports suggesting that the Giallorossi want to sell him outright for around €12m.

Whats the point? Matri is playing excellent and we still ha e Quagliarella and Vucinic. So 3 strikers fighting for 1-2 spots. That works. We dont need Borriello, hed be behind all 3 of them, and even Del Piero too in my opinion. Overall, we have Pepe, Esti, Giacch, Elia, Krasic, Matri, Vucinic, Del Piero and Quags fighting for 3 spots in our 433. Thats more than enough already. So I say no to Borriello.

SS isn't as crucial right now in a 4-3-3 but then again neither is a prima punta

I agree. With Conte's tactics, the SS hasn't been as critical of a position. Realistically, we're only going to make 1-2 moves in the January window and I hope that is for Montolivo and Caceres. If we are able to clear out Iaquinta, Amauri, or even Toni, then I'm fine with adding Boriello as an emergency player. Otherwise, I'd leave the forward position alone until the summer where we can look to add a quality SS. If we make this move in January we'll just over pay or get crap.

With Amauri, Iaquinta and Toni leaving, a great SS can take their place.

Giovinco for next season
If you bring in a top quality SS right now how do you bring Giovinco back and then what happens to Vucinic, too many fish

Giovinco for me should take Giacch's place.

Giovinco should and probably will be playing a much larger role than Giaccherini

And Giac back to Cesena

I agree with everything said since my last post. I just don't think January is the time to bring in a quality SS. Either you overpay or get crap. Rarely do you get a player like Matri. Conte's system is functioning for now without a SS and Vucinic has done well. If we get into UCL, then we should evaluate bringing in a quality SS.

For now, let's concentrate on Caceres and Montolivo as a vice for Pirlo. You can only expect so much magic in the January window.

why would we ever need borriello??? matri, quag, adp are enough. even then if they arnt we have iaquinta , toni (if they stay) or even vucinic can be played as a striker
