Cagliari v AC Milan Empty Cagliari v AC Milan

Post by Arquitecto Mon Dec 19, 2011 12:52 pm

The Rossoblu will welcome back Andrea Cossu after the former Verona playmaker missed the weekend defeat to Chievo through suspension, while Daniele Conti is also likely to return to the starting line-up.

However, the hosts will still be without long-term absentee Davide Astori, with the former Milan defender still nursing a fibula fracture, while Nene is also a doubt as the Brazilian is struggling with a muscle strain.

Christian Abbiati should return to the starting XI for the champions, after making the bench for the recent victory over Siena, while Gianluca Zambrotta and Luca Antonini should also return for the visitors.

Godbate is unknown for know and will be updated. Nesta is currently training but won't be back for Cagliari.

REF: Daniele Orsato

Here is what I would line-up:

4-3-2-1

Abate/Zambro-Mexes-Silva-Antonini
Aquilani-Van Bommel-Nocerino
Ibra-Prince
Patogol

Edit: Subs: Robinho El Sharaway, De Sciglio/Seedorf

The hosts have only won once in their last 10 league games.
Only the bottom two of Lecce and Novara have conceded more goals than Cagliari this term.
No other team in Serie A have won more games than Milan this season.
Massimiliano Allegri's side have only lost two league games this season, with both defeats coming away from home.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has scored 10 league goals so far this season, only two less than Cagliari have managed in total.

Oh man, I wish Ibra was an AM

But that's the FIFA Manager Mode man inside me talking.

Ideally, Milan should put in a no nonsense and BRUTAL display in the first half and establish a comfortable lead. And give El Shaarawy a chance in the second half.

Well, I'm surprised on your mention on the Ibra-AM part as Ibra has pretty much played a number 10 role for us while he sits deep and sends the more pacy forwards through with his visionary passes.

Funny thing is, the reason for his lack of braces IS due to the fact that after he scores his first goal in a game, his position is one that is far deeper than the one before his initial goal as by then he pretty much is an AM/TQ who sits deep and distributes.

And I too hope SES92 gets a chance as frankly, I'm fed up of seeing the somewhat ineffective Urby being given a chance when SES is far more vital for our future.

Well, to be fair to him he isn't being played properly and this isn't really Allegri's fault also as he won't change the system to that which will help Urby as he is a winger and we haven't played wingers since Leo's Milan.

If we did play a winger system then I am confident he would perform but these days he has been solid but unspectacular.

Point is he is not a fit for Milan not due to his ability but due to the lack of need for players of his role. EPL would be a good destination.

Urby was Galliani's choice as well.

he was bought to be a CM but allegri keeps using him as a CAM when Boa,Binho,Seedorf,Aquaman and ES would probably do a better job

No no Regis, you are mistaken here.

Ruby is a pure winger who thrives only playing on the left side and can also play as LB. he played as LB early in his Ajax career yet switched to left winger and put in numerous valueble and solid performances for them.

The reason he isnt impressing all of us is due to the fact that we are playing him central as he simply isn't a central player.

Yeah I know he's a winger, but we bought him in Jan so he could be a part of the 3 man mid for some reason

He was brought in to be a back-up left back and if we needed a left-sided midfielder.

But since he wasn't Allegri's choice, Max has found that the Mezzala role does not suit Urby and that as a LB he isn't good enough due to his iffy defense.

Allegri has yet to fully formulate his system and is currently trying to implement Urby but as we can see it isn't working out due to Urby's lack of versatility and right foot.

I think we can train Urby into the left back role, look what we did with Abate; he was to say the least not good when we first put him at RB, but we stuck with him and trained him up. Emmanuelson is no different in my opinion, tons of energy, speed and can cross the ball I don't see why we don't at least try him. I want him to succeed very badly, I like the player a lot. A lot more than Taiwo.

Ya should be a good game for us if we come out playing well, unfortunately we don't have Abate though, we for sure play different without him

Tbh Ibra somewhat already plays as an AM,he spend most of the time outside the pen area.

Well i dont see Ibra playing in the hole tbh.

Yes many a times he has tracked back and managed to get the ball out of midfield but for someone who is very clinical in front of goal playing him as an AM will make him a less of a goal-scoring threat imo.

He is a "hidden trequartista" which i'd like to call him but in a striker role.Tbh i dont see much of a difference between his Inter days and at present in reference to his role.

If anything ,he is just spending more time outside the penalty box as the game progresses like arq and ganso said.

He is good as it is imo.

It must be like this, as defenders will cover him more easily as pure striker. Ibra is like 95 kg, he cant run around all the time like Barca-players to make himself available.
