yeah ron improved his overall game 10x folds to what it used to be, goes into selfish mode sometimes but even his selfish mode isn't bad as it used to be either

ragbirjosh wrote:Meh......I'm tired of analysing his performance Yesterday........more and more I'm coming to the conclusion that he had a bad game for whatever reason...........(Barca flop  )

All this tactical analysis and wanting him to play different positions and play different roles is unneccessary

It would be good if he made the rational passes and made good decisions on the field....but that dosen't reqire a complete makeover as a player , merely a change in mindset.

If he had just done his job and what he normally does .....he would have scored 2 goals and we would have won the match.

Him being not a playmaker has nothing to do with that.If he's going to be a 9 , he's going to be a 9 and I'm comfortable with that.......I actually quite prefer it......rather than him dropping deep and losing the ball.

He's a fantastic player.......easily the 2nd best in the world......but he simply needs to live it easy and forget what people expect him to do.....(make unbelievable plays while holding a balancing act in greed) and allow the game to come to him naturally......and do what he does.He forced it and it showed, he's a simple player...most of his best moments come when he does things simply....just stick to it.

Anyway....I still want to sell him to city before FFP comes into effect banana (not even joking)

Views haven't changed since 10.12.11

Glad he seems to be following my advice and has regained some touch, and at the moment he fully deserves the 2nd best player in the world tag.

Honestly, my views have never really changed on the man, he's become a better player and made an effort to pass more...so I'm less critical. I still firmly believe we need to be running the play through Benzema and Ozil, they are more suited to being attacking initiators as they are talented and selfless - and if given the chance will foster a very distributive team game. To me, that's better for the team.

I also wanted him to roatate so we'd have a fighting chance of not losing either Higuian, Benzema or both - but I've since given up on that.

Basically,my opinion is not going to change as far as on the pitch activities goes, but since he started making an effort (and apparently before) I've stopped being hyper-critical.

First tell me you agree about him being shite in Clasico's for first 2 years? because clasico's were 80% of our most important games.

cuz if you want to ask me dumb questions for sake of it we better don't waste our times.

No No NO.

You're slipping away from this.

You said he was shite in all our big games. Stop wasting time and name them.

Everybody said he was not performing well in the classico's. The quotes are there.

YOU decided that he never performed well in ALL our BIG games.

Have the decency to back up your claims and provide the proof.

Izzy - If we really think about it - classicos - and perhaps the 4 games against Milan- comprised the vast majority of our games against truly elite oposition (not something I consider synonymous with big games) at the time of Mamad's post. He was poor in most w/ the exception of Pelligrini's first clasico and the CDR final...in both of which he still wasn't at his best.

I know what you are doing. last time we had a conversation you did exactly the same. finding one word in my post and playing with it. be a man and discuss like a man ffs.

everyone knows the big games we are talking about are mostly Clasico's. why you want to ignore them and asking me to name other games is clear. you are just running away with the fact that Ronaldo really sucked in his first 6-7-8 Clasico's.

but since you asked, in Pellegrini's season we had one big game other than Barca games and that was against Lyon. Ronaldo did nothing in first leg and in second leg scored on Guti's lovely pass but again did nothing else. and when i say did nothing else i mean played bad. so that's that.

i can't actually think of many big games because all we had was barca but the games i remember Ronaldo completely sucked was one against Milan in San Siro that ended 2-2 or semi finals against bayern or of course semi finals against Barca but off the table cuz we just talking about other teams. oh another 2 games against Lyon ( 3-0 and 1-1 ) in 1/16 or 1/8 i think. these are just CL games btw. we didn't face many big teams really.

He was horrible against Lyon. CSKA was after January 2012, which is when he turned it around. APOEL... lol; but it was also after Jan 2012. Against Spurs, he scored the 4th goal of the 4-0 thrashing we gave them at home and the return leg was meaningless.

So please point me to one big game prior to January 2012 where he was truly decisive.

Oh lord, you had no idea what you were gonna say so waited for Josh and Sports to give you some games so you could use wiki to find them.

rofl

As for the Lyon games, he wasn't poor at all.
Him and Higuain were the only two who came out all guns blazing for both ties and actually gave a good account of themselves.

The ajority of the blame feel on Pellegrini, who decided out of the blue to play M. Diarra that away game for some reason (even though he did all right). The home game, only Higgy and CR turned up.

The games against Milan (the one where he ran them ragged at home) and the game where he was good but couldn't score to save his life at the San Siro.

The Bayern Games, Really? rofl

Just lol Mamad. lol.

He was great vs Barca in the Copa final.

PS: Ronaldo was always a great, incredible player, but in 2012 he turned into a different beast, especially after the 1-3 clasico.

So....

Yea, you're right. He missed the two initial games. He wasn't great in the two the following year, I remember him and the team in general having a great half in the Bernebau one of those years - not sure if it was under Pellegrini or under Mou- he was good in that half.

Anyway, of the 12 games we played against elite opposition 8 were against Barca and 4 were against Milan - 2 of which he missed. 10 games, all below his own standards - but relatively good performances in 2 - I think that's a fair sample size.

(ii) Higgy missed a game sealer. I don't blame him as much as the guys around here...but he wasn't the only player who showed up. Guti was brilliant in that game, and we should have converted more chances that he created.

(iii) Albiol was at fault for the goal that knocked us out

That's not the point i'm discussing.
I've said that he was below his standard in the classico's, what I have a prob;em with is the idea that against the other teams and matches that have been highlighted as BIG games, it's being said he didn't show up which blatantly isn't the case.

It was under Mou, they were great in the 1st half but couldn't finish to save their lives in the 2nd half. How that equates to him sucking is beyond me.

I'm saying, the media used Diarra's inclusion as a way to blame Pelle for the defeat in the first leg, even though imo Diarra was alright and not as bad as made out to be. Sorry for not being clearer.

Higgy, CR and sorry for forgetting Guti were the only ones who seemed to be up for the game. I get Higgy's miss was big but, as a whole performance he played great, was just unlucky.

But that game is exactly what i'm talking about. How can maybe 7 out of 11 players have an off day but one of the players who showed is the one who is called a flop in the game? That makes no sense to me.

no he was bad against lyon. and other games too. but i knew you will say no he wasn't bad. what else could you say? lol.

Come on just admit he was bad in big occasions especially against Barca. don't lie to yourself.

Why talk about games if you don't remember them? Suspect

I said he was poor vs Barca (numerous times now) but he was poor vs Lyon and fcking Spurs? Yeah, sure he was.

Again... we beat Spurs 4-0 in the first leg and he scored the 4th goal. Really had no big impact. That was the Di Maria and Adebayor show. Second leg meant zilch after that.

He was absolute mehness against Lyon and i watched all those games since I live in France. Not only that, i dislike Lyon and i had to listen to the Lyon defense get overrated by all the pundits here for making CR7 look average. Deceived NT managers to keep calling up Reveillere, which was very annoying. How i cursed Ronaldo and others for making Lyon look good lol.

We all know Barca...
