Well, "Ultra Rich Sheikh's Cup" or "Russian Warmonger's Cup" doesn't have too much appeal eitherNatalie Portman wrote:then it should be renamed to "Rich Capitalist Countries Cup" ....not the "World Cup"

Wolfgang Niersbach, who was freshly promoted to ExCo member, suddenly said that he "trusts Sepp Blatter"
I'd really love to know what Blatter has in his hands that he can so easily blackmail the DFB and Niersbach. Can't be just some thick envelopes...

Well, would be nice if Niersbach would live up to it and tear Blatter apart. But instead he decides to smile, shake hands and roll over...MR BOND wrote:bit off topic. but how cool is the name wolfgang. you see wolfgang and think of a pack of wild beasts. in England we give people boring names like dave.

Niersbach has always been an utter useless pos.
Bribing him can't be difficult.

Re: FIFA Investigation and Elections Thread
There's definitely more reason behind it than what he said, something about not having a mandate from everyone, that he has known for years.
I don't want Platini, he is too close to the same circle that Blatter is part of.

Re: FIFA Investigation and Elections Thread
"INTERPOL issues Red Notices for former FIFA officials and executives wanted by US authorities"
LYON, France – At the request of US authorities, INTERPOL Red Notices – or international wanted persons alerts – have been issued for two former FIFA officials and four corporate executives for charges including racketeering, conspiracy and corruption.
The Red Notices have been issued for;
Jack Warner, Trinidad & Tobago national, former FIFA vice president and executive committee member, CONCACAF president, CFU president and Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) special adviser.
Nicolás Leoz, Paraguayan national, former FIFA executive committee member and CONMEBOL president.
Alejandro Burzaco, Argentine national, controlling principal of Torneos y Competencias S.A., a sports marketing business based in Argentina, and its affiliates.
Hugo Jinkis and Mariano Jinkis, Argentine nationals, controlling principals of Full Play Group S.A., a sports marketing business based in Argentina, and its affiliates.
José Margulies (also known as José Lazaro), Brazilian national, controlling principal of Valente Corp. and Somerton Ltd., broadcasting businesses.
Red Notices are one of the ways in which INTERPOL informs its member countries that an arrest warrant has been issued for an individual by a judicial authority and seeks the location and arrest of wanted persons with a view to extradition or similar lawful action."

Re: FIFA Investigation and Elections Thread
The FBI has expanded its investigation to include the 2018 and 2022 World Cup bidding process as well now.
http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jun/03/fbi-investigating-fifa-2018-2022-world-cup
Interesting to note that, as I understand it, Blazer's bribe for the 1998 World Cup was actually to vote for Morocco, who France beat out.

Yes, I heard that too. When that happens the word usually gets out that the "bribee" is not trustworthy. How did they gain the trust of later "bribers". Maybe they used a different front man every four years.

Re: FIFA Investigation and Elections Thread
In this specific instance it's not terribly complex. Blazer accepted a bribe to vote for Morocco... who lost to France anyway. Morocco, or someone who wanted them to host a WC, tried and failed to buy their way into getting the 1998 one.
