Sterling gone now, time for this kid to shine. Last season he showed 2 months of great form in December and January. There's a lot of special talent in him. Mentally was where he lost the battle. I wrote it off as first season jitters for a 20 year old in a new country and culture.

Didn't help that David Brent played him as wingback most of the season.

Anyways, it's time to step up. He's really special when he's playing with confidence. And we saw glimpses last season.

I like your optimism, but I just don't see him hitting the ground running and after that there will be too many players ahead of him, just like last season.

I rate Origi more than Markovic in the brief amount I've seen of him, versus what I've seen of Markovic.

Though like James said, I think that a lot of Markovic's issue last season had to do with his confidence and not his talent. I definitely liked what I saw at times. It'll be interesting to see who takes bigger strides this year between him and Ibe.

It's just been a year. Lots of players have turn around from such (or even greater) debacle.

One of Markovic's biggest assets is his speed. Of course you didn't get to see much of it last year I feel because of his tentative approach during the games.

I have to say I have much higher hopes for ibe than I do for markovic.

Nah he's anything but slow. He just rarely used his pace to run at defenders. Played almost like a sissy, like the ball was a hot potato, would pass right back to whoever passed it to him. It was very frustrating. January and February when his confidence was up, he was playing really well and his talent was evident. I hope it was just the first season youngster syndrome.
