I made a thread about his buddy ole pal at Utrecht and PSV, Dries Mertens, earlier this year and yeah, he's a beast too.
Even more telling than that highlight tape is the the sheer amount of responsibility on the pitch he has to handle week in, week out. He shares central midfield with uber-attacking Ola Toivonen and Gigi Wijnaldum, so he's got to be all over the place to make sure they don't surrender control of the midfield.
Definitely well spent coin on P$V's part this summer.

Garcia seriously messed up starting him. I would be very angry if I were a Netherlands fan. He already was carrying an injury and Garcia risked it unnecessarily.

Honestly, this World Cup was a wash as soon as van Gaal was appointed manager. My only concern at this point is Strootman's long-term fitness.

Given that he's already captained the Dutch at just 24 tells you quite a bit about him.
Easily one of the best players on the continent up til the injury. As I said in another thread, the only real positive with the injury is that we probably won't get too many suitors for him in the summer, meaning we will have him at least another season.
Hopefully the repairmen can get not only fix this washing machine, but upgrade it.

Huge loss as I thought he was easily our MVP of this season, what he does on both ends of the field and the level he does it at is irreplaceable.
However, I have to say when it happened the first thing I thought about was what McLewis said, in that we probably won't have to worry about losing him now.
