De Jong is one of the most overrated DM's in the league.......

Tiote, Lucas, Song and Parker are all better.....

Heck Gareth Barry has been better this year.

Personally clogger dm's who run round the pitch like headless chickens like De Jong and make miraculous tackles now and again dont impress me......

The reason they have to make those tackles is because they are always out of position.....

Players like Lucas and Busquets and never out of position to be caught out like that and that to me is much more impressive.

Song is a "defensive B2B" if ever there was. He regularly gets praise for being involved in passing moves in/around the opposition box while his problematic defensive positioning is overlooked.

Lucas owned that sorry excuse for a midfield (Man City)

Agree with Mole about De Jong. I never understand the hype about him.

De Jong doesn't play because, like with Madrid, City is now playing a 4-2-3-1, which requires a 2 B2B midfielders. If they would play a 4-3-3, then a DM would be necessary and De Jong would start. Also, Yaya has slowed down a bit and cannot handle as much of the overall midfield responsibilities as he used to... they needed a more well-rounded midfielder.

Any team who plays a system with a a true DM would be foolish not to take De Jong. He's one of the best DMs out there.

Even when he was getting shit from everyone a couple of years ago, I still liked Lucas. The kid has worked so hard to improve his game and it's fantastic to finally see him getting that recognition for it. He's a completely reborn player

Piggy is not a DM. Tymo is not as good. Gustavo neither. In fact, after watching De Jong yesterday, Leiva is now better than him. So yeah, he's one of the best now.

Tymo is probably the most under-rated DM in the world, I can't stand for Gustavo but Tymo is right there with the very best DM
