Too much emphasise is put on pace in this forum, positioning and timing matters much much more.

That is because Barcelona play with a high-line more or less and their game demands a more faster and athletic CB to complement the lack of pace of Puyol and even Pique.At the moment Barca need a Puyol replacement more or less.

And we all know how Chygrinsky fared dint we ?Subotic somewhat possesses similar attributes to Chygrynsky.

Chygrinsky failed for more reasons than his pace..... his positional sense, timing of interceptions and tackling, passing was also awful.

One of the best CB's in Barcelona's history in Ronald Koeman was'nt exactly quick either.

Also Germany are playing a highish line at the Euros with one of the slowest CB's partnership known to man and have not been exploited at all.

If your positional sense and timing is good then Pace doesn't matter.

Dont Juventus play a sort of high line? and dont they have Bonucci, Chiellini and Barzagli in the back line? and they are not exactly quick no?

For every Chygriynskiy there has been a Koeman, Puyol, Pique, Marquez, Nadal etc etc.

Because your slow dont mean you will fail.

Lolwut! none of the center backs you mentioned are slow. puyol and machete are - were fast. puyi is on decline since he is losing pace.
pique and Marquez were never really fast but definitely not slow for CB. pique stood victorious in several sprints vs Cristina!

having pace is a must for a Barcelona CB.

Subotic, Hummels, Vertonghen etc etc are no slower than Pique or Marquez( prime) free_cat.

Nadal was quite fast and in koeman days we used to concede almost 2 goals per game. He was known as a stool in Catalonia but as we favoured extra attacking football and we won, people was find with it. dream teams bad defending wouldn't be acceptable nowadays.

If we are getting a defender from Dortmund then it should be Hummels.
Dont like Subotic as much.

He is obviously not faster than Cipriano as the youtuber claims, but he is just a bit slower than Cristiano which is more than good enoufh for a CB his height.

He was better since RDM took charge (still did mistakes and Cahill and Terry were superior), but Vilas Boas plays more like us, and under Boas he was crap. So not a good sign. You can keep him.

i'd like him depending on the price
