Who would win?
Catalonia Vs. Spain
Got bored yesterday so I made a little comparison of just a hypothetical match-up here, since it is very unlikely or is it? We all know that the Catalans want to become independent and it got me wondering if an all-catalan XI would have what it takes to take on La Roja, so here is my lineup for a Clasico-like match:
Catalonia (4-3-3):
GK:V.Valdes
RB:Puyol
RCB:J.Amat
LCB:Pique
LB:Didac
RCM:Xavi
CDM:Busquets
LCM:Cesc
RW:S.Garcia
ST:Tamudo
LW:Bojan
Subs:
Casilla,Fontas,Bartra,V.Ruiz,Capdevila/Navarro,O.Serrano,Verdu,Alvaro Vazquez
Spain (3-4-3):
GK:Casillas
RCB:Ramos
CB:Albiol
LCB:Arbeloa
RM:Silva
RCM:Thiago
LCM:Iniesta
LM:Mata
RW:Pedro
ST:Llorente
LW:Villa
Subs:Reina,Marchena,Javi Martinez,Iraola,Alonso,Valero,Torres,Negredo
I wanna go with Catalonia as they have pretty much Barca's DF and MF but I just dont think that the catalan's potential firepower up front would be enough for a still powerful Roja. Im going with Spain.

Re: Catalonia Vs. Spain
Dangit I blind voted Catalonia because I'm biased and now I realize the Spain team would wipe the floor with that Catalan team on paper.

Yeah but they rarely field their best possible XI, which u have to admit is still strong on paper.Catracho wrote:Catalonia can't even beat Euskadi

same goes for Euskadi aswell...
2-2 in Camp Nou
1-1 in San Mames
have a hard time seeing them beating Spain.

Shouldn't Thiago count for Catalonia, since he was pretty much made by the Masia?

Re: Catalonia Vs. Spain
A better Spanish xi imo
tbh I like this one even better than Catalonias...
Swap Xavi in there and Pique and it's how Spain should play
Arbeloa - Ramos - Albiol - Enrique
Alonso
Iniesta - Thiago
Silva - Llorente - Mata
Alonso
Iniesta - Thiago
Silva - Llorente - Mata

Isnt Guiza from Mallorca? Which is catalan. Silva is from the Valencia area, which is also catalan.

While Català is spoken in both the Spanish Government recognizes them as separate Communities/Districts (Balearic Islands & The Valencian Community).

Just saying it's a bit strange to put him in either team if the categories are universal and mutually exclusive.

Lol.. are you making this up as you go??
David Silva is from the Canary Islands and have represented them before against Angola iirc.
Dani Guiza is from Andalusia and has represented them against Zambia.
Andres Iniesta was a guest player.. and has never played for Catalunya ever again, plus he isn't Catalan, he's from Castile-La Mancha.
Carlos Marchena is from Andalusia and has represented them against Zambia.
David Villa is from Asturias, even his nickname is Asturian, El Guaje.
Fernando Llorente is 100% Basque and has represented Euskadi several times.
Jesus Navas is from the region of Seville.
and finally, Raul Albiol is Valencian and has represented them against Palestine.

Well, he's got Spanish in him at least so I guess that qualifies him as Castellan at least.

The Catalonia lineup looked great, up until the abysmal front line.

Re: Catalonia Vs. Spain
Pretty much I'm just going off of what the current NT status of these players is. And the fact that Catalonia is a NT, just not officially and Thiago has never represented them.Forza Rossoneri wrote:Just saying it's a bit strange to put him in either team if the categories are universal and mutually exclusive.
