You can't make runs when there's no midfield possession and there's no long passing (Xabi is way lower the past few games to help Carvalho). You have to get the midfield handled first... otherwise, your team is cut in two.

The problem is that what you're describing is not wing play. You create width by taking the play towards the corner flags and drawing defenders with you. You only are supposed to cut in when you have overlaps that take defenders with them and there's cut in opportunity. Di Maria and CR7 rarely fulfill the responsibilities of wingers. Arbeloa did all he could... but Di Maria and Callejon weren't using him properly. Marcelo was trying a bit too... but even he was being ignored a lot by CR7.

I actually think that if we were more disciplined with our width, the middle would open up. Because we lack discipline there, defenders shade us for the cut back to the middle. They adjust inside out and opposed to outside in. We need to make them pay for that by taking it hard outside and peppering centering balls... and we don't.

i know i have already said this before,but to me,the main problem with madrid is that the wingers cant create/pass for their life,and when Ozil and Xabi have a slump of form,this is what happens.

I thought you people had grown out of this delusion, Ronaldo is Madrid's best player and that is without a doubt, he's given his all for the club since he came here and more than justified his huge price tag.

In his first season he dragged the newly formed Pelligrini team to Madrid's best point haul in la liga, in matches when the whole team flopped Ronaldo was there to save our asses time and time again. He even scored 53 goals last season and saved us from going 3 straight trophyless runs.

FFS, he was doing just fine until the Zagreb game, he had scored 5 goals in about the same number of matches this season and had given what could potentially be the assist of the season to Benzema (so much for he can't pass myth). He suffered an injury in that march, yet continued to play till the last minute, he even risk further injury when he came on against Levante, after having not trained for days before the match. And yesterday his cross which was met by Callejon, was the only real chance we created in the whole 90 minutes.

I get the feeling the fans here are either fickle or just ungrateful .....

We have lass, alonso, ozil,kaka,coentrao, granero, etc.

I think it's just fatigue, the players are not running as hard as they used to and there's been a slight dip in form to our top players, I wish we could rest Alonso, he's is dire need of it, playing three matches a week and travelling for hours will eventually take it's toll on any player. There's been almost no free day for rest since the away trip to Croatia, I don't think our problem is something a good rest cannot solve.

CR7 at Utd played some great stuff. His link up with Rooney, Evra, Scholes etc was ridiculous. He wasnt a cancer for us, he added to it.
Madrids players arent as good as you lot think. The amount of stupidity about having better individual players than us was unreal.
Your players arent of the level to bring the best out of CR7 creatively. Ozil floats in and out, Di Maria is 2nd tier, Contreao is somehow a midfielder ffs.
CR7 goes searching for goals because he doesnt trust his teammates to do it without him.

Travelling to three away games (including one across Europe and back) in seven days is tiring, it doesn't matter whether it's early in the season or not. There has been little or no time for the players to recuperate their strengths, that's basically the only reason I can find for the slump in form, Ozil is probably the most affected, during the international break he scored a hattrick, but can't seem to pass the ball now.

Hopefully our form will come back when we play three of our next four games at home, I'd hope we'd have picked more points from our travels, but we can't cry over spilt milk.
