How can it be a fluke when Liverpool under Benitez were one of the best CL-teams?

Greece winning the Euro in 2004, beating an extremelg strong Czech Replublic along the way and then beating Portugal in the final, in Portugal.

Chelsea winning the CL last year, beating Barcelona along the way and then beating Bayern Munich in the final, in Munich.

Those are the best upsets of the big games, the real memorable ones.

Koln upsetting Bayern on multiple occasions thanks to Poldi masterclasses are some of my personal favorites. And i guess you could call Juve underdogs against Real in 2003, though we had an extremelg strong squad too, but that was an upset too that is one of my favorites.

Some might be called flukes, ie Liverpool winning CL with a scrub manager and average team.

WC 1954 final
West Germany 3-2 Hungary.
Now there can never be a bigger upset than that.

Would be pretty epic.

That's probably the biggest upset that didn't involve Byron Moreno

some of the matches listed here don't even count as upsets . From the top of my head ,

Senegal France 02
Cameroon Argentina 90

reigning champions losing to new boys .

I have to agree with 2002. Even with Zidane out, that doesn't excuse it. We had the top scorers for EPL, Serie A and Ligue 1 (Henry, Trezeguet, Cisse), not to mention Vieira, Pires, Thuram, Sagnol, Lizerazu, etc.

Disgraceful that we disn't score a single goal in that WC.

biggest upset lol has to be Sweden 2-0 Spain in the Euro 2008 qualifiers rofl

all these nobodies raping Spain was hilarious. Daniel Andersson who doesn't even get a first look by Hamren kept Xavi deep in his pocket.

bit tbf we actually had decent strikers then in Albeck and an uninjured Elmander Sad and our CBs contained Mellberg but it was still Spain in their prime ffs

we then had them again in our Euro group but we had improved by then and drew 1-1 a game we should have won

watching the highligjts again I can't believe how far worse our team is than then.... Ljunberg help us

Euro 1992!!! Denmark didn't qualify but they were allowed to play in place of Yugoslavia (who qualified) and they were runners-up.

They were as good under arragones.... they simply just continued the way they played afyer he retired..... Arragones had the luxury of enjoying prime Torres and Villa poor VDB has to make do with scrubs like Negrito and Pedo

Not biggest ever, because it was just a group stage game, but remember that the Swiss beat Spain 1-0 in their first 2010 WC game
