Re: AS Roma Transfer Rumours
No worries, man.
If we lose Riise, then I think we may end up going after Insua as competition with Jose Angel.
How much do you rate him at, BG?

if risse was to leave imo roma shouldnt get hasty in buyin lowly defenders

You guys should look at Walter Montillo. Very exciting Argentine forward who can play on the wings or as a 10. Similar to Ozil imo, and would be very good for Luis Enriques plans.

Decent player.Looked really promising when broke through in 2009 but due to injury to Aurelio as usual he was overplayed and his performances suffered. He is very good going forward[got 4 assists that season] but was defensively suspect to an extent but certainly has age on his side to improve. He certainly cost us few goals but was a good attacking outlet.
Last season he was loaned out and our previous manager[Hodgson] bought a rubbish LB in Konchesky. He also loaned out Aquilani and bought Poulsen so u can see how rubbish Hodgson's decision making was.But this season we want to sign a new LB and have an excellent youngster in Robinson coming through. He is rated very highly in Anfield and also still have Aurelio so we didnt renew Insua's contract as he will be 3rd choice.
Personally i dont think he is good enough to start for a club of Roma's stature unless he improved defensively last season but he will be an excellent back up.Mind uthere are plenty of Liverpool fans want him to be a starter for next season but i dont rate Insua as highly as some other fans. Also his move to Foerentina fell through due to wage demands last season so he seems to be rated in Italy.

Thanks for the analysis, BG.
I liked what I saw from Insua when he had his run of games with you guys. His run with Fiorentina was rather poor honestly, but that was down to Fiorentina's form overall. I think we should go for him. Any idea of what he'd be priced at?

I would rather keep Riise, but it seems as if that won't happen. Riise is definitely not going to turn down the chance of joining up with his brother at Fulham.

Re: AS Roma Transfer Rumours
Wow i didn't see that coming ..Esp after Riise saying a few weeks back that he was happy in Rome and wanted to win things with us...Oh well,I wish him all the best ...
Now we really need to start looking for another LB ..
Insua isn't good enough imo ...We need a more experienced LB ...
Balzaretti anyone ?
He would be perfect, great in attack and solid in defense...

Re: AS Roma Transfer Rumours
Martin Jol has confirmed Fulham have agreed a fee with Roma for John Arne Riise.
Riise, 30, joined Roma from Liverpool in 2008, but with his contract due to expire next summer he is now travelling to Fulham for a medical. Reports suggest the fee is in the region of £1.5 million.
Jol, speaking after Fulham's 0-0 Europa League draw with NSI Runavik on Thursday night, said: "He's coming for a medical. If that's okay, we've got ourselves a very good player."
Fulham are seeking a new left-back as Mexico international Carlos Salcido, who joined last summer from PSV Eindhoven, has failed to settle in London.
Riise's brother, Bjorn Helge Riise, has been at Fulham since 2009 but spent time on loan with Sheffield United in the Championship last season.

Don't know if you know about this. I don't venture in here very often but I saw this thought I might as well share it.

Good news. Sabatini knows our fullbacks need some revamping. Its our major weakness.
Riise wasn't the same player after that head injury...
I don't think we buy any italians this summer...

Re: AS Roma Transfer Rumours
Luis Enrique also didn't Riise as a good fit in his plans as well, according to some reports.
I reckon we may either sign a new LB or see a lot more of Alessandro Crescenzi on left along with Angel.

I dont think we will demand more than 2-3 mil tbh.As i said we want to sell him and has only 1 year left on his contract so will probably accept even 2 mil bid.
Edit:
Have Roma confirmed the signings of Bojan and Jose Angel? Or still negotiating?

Re: AS Roma Transfer Rumours
The move for Bojan is on hold until Barcelona sign his replacement, which looks to be Sanchez...however, they are said to be unhappy about Udinese's asking price.
The move for Jose Angel should be wrapped up as early as today, according to his agent.

Barcelona striker Bojan Krkic could be set to complete his transfer to Roma as soon as next week, according to his father.
Speaking to Radio Radio, Bojan Krkic senior said: "He will come next week and he may be presented with [club owner] Thomas DiBenedetto.
"Krkic has already put a picture of the Curva Sud [Roma fans' turnstile at the Olympic stadium] on his mobile phone."
On Thursday, the 20-year-old revealed his exit from the Camp Nou appeared imminent.
Bojan scored six goals in 27 appearances for the Liga and European champions last season.

Re: AS Roma Transfer Rumours
Sabatini is said to be trying to sell off Ahmed Barusso in order to free up a non-eu spot for Lamela. Switzerland is a possible destination for him. His exit is absolutely neccessary in order to purchase Lamela.
Leandro Greco is close to joining Lecce on loan, with an option to buy.
Antunes also seems to be on his way out. His agent said that he would like to stay in Rome as he is fascinated by the new project and by the prospect of working under Luis Enrique, however he knows that he doesn't have much space and that he has interest from some Portugese clubs.

No Roma offer for Kjaer
Roma have not made a bid to sign Simon Kjaer from Wolfsburg this summer, his agent has underlined.
The Dane has been linked with the capital club after they lost Philippe Mexes to Milan on a free transfer.
“They are just rumours,” Mikkel Beck told TMW on Friday. “I haven’t had any contact with Italian clubs at all.
“My client has a long contract with Wolfsburg [until 2014], he’s happy there and he’s keen to start the new season.
“I would say that there is no chance that Simon will be moving clubs this summer.”
The centre-back, 22, joined the German outfit in the summer of 2010 from Palermo for €12.5m

Roma prepare to shift 'keepers
Julio Sergio is on the verge of joining Spanish side Malaga, while Alexander Doni’s agent shifts the parameters of a Liverpool move yet again.Roma have put both of their Brazilian goalkeepers on the transfer market this summer.
“It’s true we are in talks with Malaga. There’s a good chance of it going through,” Julio Sergio’s agent Alessandro Lucci told Sky Sport Italia.
Julio Sergio has been first, second and third choice goalkeeper at Roma over the years, but is no longer required under new Coach Luis Enrique.
Doni had been expected to leave the Stadio Olimpico several weeks ago when Roma agreed a fee with Liverpool, but the talks over personal terms continue to drag on.
“On Monday we will meet with Roma to conclude our rapport with the club,” agent Ovidio Colucci told Rete Sport.
“Therefore we hope that Doni can be a Liverpool player from Monday evening.”
It is a change from Thursday, when Colucci suggested the transfer would be completed “by the end of the day.”
