Lamela, meanwhile, risks being suspended after punching an opponent in the final minutes of River Plate's last match.
He will definitely be suspended for that no doubt about it....
Mike,If Marco Verratti arrives in Rome do you think he's good enough to get into the first team squad ?

Don't know, I've barely seen him play and most of his clips on youtube are from football manager (so basically they're completely useless). Probably not too much difference with the likes of Ciciretti and Caprari.

Re: AS Roma Transfer Rumours
Transfer rumors for today then:
- We're reportedly closing in on Ricky Alvarez. We still face stiff competition from Arsenal, Malaga, and Palermo. Sabatini will be flying to Argentina next week to seal the deal and bring the 24-year old to Rome. No mention of how much Velez want for him though. If it's still 15 million then that's way too much imo.
Source: Ill Corriere dello Sport
- In order to fund our ambitious bid for Javier Pastore, Sabatini is keen to sell the newly acquired Marco Boriello as well as Jeremy Menez to Paris Saint-Germain and Mirko Vucinic to Juventus, should they fail to sign Aguero, which will be expected to net us at least 35 million. He will then use about 15 million of our kitty to balance out the deal, meeting Zamparini's asking price pf 50 million in total.

- With Real Madrid set to drop 45 million on Neymar, Sabatini has cast his watchful eye over Gonzalo Higuain, who could end up not being in Mourinho's plans this season. Should the Merengues sign Neymar, Sabatini plans to fly to Madrid to explore the possbiility of signing Higuain. Interesting stuff.
Source: il Corriere dello Sport
- Our interest in Gael Clichy seems at an end as the player has made it clear that he wants to stay in England and force his way out of Arsenal to join Liverpool. Sabatini's backup option is Inter's Davide Santon, who we could acquire on loan/co-ownership. Another option is Sporting Gijon's Castro Pereira (23), whom Luis Enrique rates very highly. Since he's Sporting's first-choice RB, it will take a good offer to lure him to Rome.

- Inter are bidding 4.5 million for Emiliano Viviano, but Bologna want 8 million for the keeper. Arsenal have a made a surprise bid of 9 million for the Italian, in a move that could hi-jack the whole deal between us, Inter and Bologna.
Source: il Corriere dello Sport
- We face competition from both Sicilian sides as well as Cagliari for Penarol's Alejandro Martinuccio. Nothing from Penarol on how much it would cost to bring the attacker to Italy however.
Source: La Gazzetta dello Sport
- Leandro Greco appears set for an exit as Cagliari and Udinese have both shown a concrete interest in him. Cagliari appear most likely to get the midfielder if they can sell off some of their deadweight and make a substantial bid even though Udinese will have millions upon millions to spend with the impending sale of Sanchez to Barcelona.
Source: il Corriere dello Sport
- We've announced our interest in Marseille's Lucho Gonzalez. L'OM could be tempted to offload their Argentine playmaker to raise funds for a bid to sign Emanuel Adebayor from Manchester City.
Source: L'Equipe
- The agent of Espanyol and Cameroon keeper Carlos Kameni thinks that his client would fancy a move to Rome, but admits that there has been no contact with Sabatini about any potential transfers. The player himself prefers to stay in Spain and consider's England his favored destination outside of Iberia.

This is true.
If we can knock his price down to at least 10-12 mil, we'll come off the better for it as well.

Re: AS Roma Transfer Rumours
I am against a Javier Pastore transfer, and no team will be stupid enough to bid 50m euro for someone like Pastore...after having seen him in a couple of matches i think the palermo owner must sniff coke for dinner to think he is even worth that much. too many overrated players these days.
that ricky alvarez guy seems very interesting, but our chances are very slim considering he had prefer premier league and arsenal over serie a and roma...and also higuin is not really something we need.
if sabatini want's to splash the cash. i say he should do it on g. rossi. now that's a player that would make roma squad impressive.

Re: AS Roma Transfer Rumours
According to Zamparini, who is also interested in Alvarez, the Argentina already has an agreement in place with Arsenal. Do I believe him? No, but I think that Arsenal are in fact the front runners for his signature.
As for all the co-ownerships, Roma has bought back Guberti, Curci, Rosi and Bertolacci which is mostly good news. However, some of them are likely to be used as bait for other transfers, so we're not certain which of these will stay with us for next season.
Also, Verratti has confirmed that he would like to join us, while Cesare Bovo and Davide Santon's names have also popped up again as possible additions to our back line. Domenico Criscito, on the other hand, is set to join Spalletti at Zenit.
And lastly, but definitely not the least important, Sabatini is reportedly interested in Real Madrid's Gonzalo Higuain. Higuain is said to be out of favour at Madrid and is not part of Mourinho's plans. For this reason, Sabatini is tracking the Argentina striker.

Roma look to Stekelenburg
Roma’s plans for Emiliano Viviano are in tatters, so they turn to Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg.
It was reported the Giallorossi had a deal in place to take Italy shot-stopper Viviano if Bologna won the auction with Inter.
However, an error in the paperwork has seen the Nerazzurri take full ownership, which makes negotiations with Roma somewhat complicated.
Instead, Luis Enrique has sent his emissaries to Amsterdam in order to clinch the signature of Stekelenburg.
The 29-year-old Dutch international is a hero at Ajax and has been valued at around €12m, but there could be a discount considering his contract expires in June 2012.

Vucinic 'aiming higher than Blackburn'
Roma striker Mirko Vucinic is “aiming higher than Blackburn,” said his agent. “We can target a prestigious club.”
The Montenegro international has made it clear he wants to leave the Olimpico this summer, but so far the biggest offer has reportedly come from Blackburn Rovers.
“We had an initial meeting with director Walter Sabatini three weeks ago and will get back together for talks when Vucinic returns from vacation,” agent Alessandro Lucci told Sky Sport Italia.
“We have had no contact with Blackburn. They are a respectable club, but we aspire to something higher than Blackburn and can aim for a prestigious side.
“Vucinic is unhappy because of the environment he is in and is a result of the rapport between player and fans. For many months now he is no longer loved by the supporters.
“Now Mirko needs to relax and a solution will be found.”
However, Lucci also suggested talk of Juventus was overblown by the newspapers.
“The two clubs have never spoken. It’s true I met with the Juventus directors, but we talked about many players and they just asked for information on Vucinic. We never got into details.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I find this very sad that we're going to lose a top player like Mirko because of this...

Stekelenburg: 'Roma have priority'
Ajax and Holland goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg has confirmed “Roma have the priority.”
The shot-stopper became their top target after Inter bought out Emiliano Viviano from Bologna.
“Maarten can come to Roma, absolutely,” declared agent Robert Jansen.
“I can also say those reports of Ajax setting a price-tag above €10m are simply not true.
“If the Giallorossi make an official proposal, then as far as we are concerned Roma have the priority.”
A world class goalkeeper has been one of the main requests by new Coach Luis Enrique

Roma drop Alvarez, Inter test Arsenal
Roma have officially pulled out a pre-contract agreement for Ricky Alvarez, but Inter are challenging Arsenal.
The Giallorossi had named Velez Sarsfield talent Alvarez as one of the main targets for the summer under Coach Luis Enrique.
“It’s true we had a pre-contract agreement, but €15m for Alvarez is a bit much,” director of sport Walter Sabatini told Teleradiostereo.
“I believe a player should be paid what he is worth. Alvarez was born in 1988 and has room for improvement, but it’s also fair to say he hasn’t played very much in the first team.”
Arsenal were in pole position for the Argentine, but it is reported today that Inter have dived into the race.
The Nerazzurri would be prepared to pay the €15m for the 23-year-old trequartista.

Leo wants Borriello at PSG
Leonardo is rebuilding Paris Saint-Germain and it’s reported he could bring Marco Borriello with him.
The former Inter Coach is taking over as director of sport and with the funds from new Qatari owners, PSG are becoming a force on the transfer market.
Having already been linked with Kaka and Javier Pastore, the French side is now said to be in talks for Borriello.
The striker has been bought out from Milan after spending this season on loan at the Stadio Olimpico.
However, Borriello does not seem to have much of a future with the Giallorossi and is on the market.
It would be a reunion for Borriello, who played under Leonardo at Milan last year.

Roma swoop for Nego
Roma are expected to complete their swoop for Nantes talent Loic Nego in the next few days.
The right-back is available on a free transfer after impressing in Ligue 2 with Nantes this season.
He was also of interest to the likes of Benfica, Cesena and Saint-Etienne.
It is widely reported in Italy and France that Roma have secured a deal for Nego and will sign him possibly as early as this weekend.
He will become the first signing since Coach Luis Enrique took over.

‘Lamela not worth it’
Napoli have intimated that they won’t make a bid for River Plate starlet Erik Lamela. Meanwhile, they’ve signed Antonio Rosati.
Lamela was being heavily linked with a switch to Serie A even before River Plate were relegated over the weekend.
Napoli are known to be admirers, but President Aurelio De Laurentiis has told Marte Sport Live that the Argentine isn’t a likely arrival.
“It’ll take a lot of hard work to sign him and I’m not sure it is worth investing the kind of figures needed,” De Laurentiis stated.
“If the player came here for nothing then we could talk about it, but he’s a player who only has potential. And sometimes potential doesn’t turn into reality.”
Napoli have made a signing today though after swooping for Rosati, the Lecce custodian who will be a reserve to Morgan De Sanctis next term.
Rosati, born in Tivoli in 1983, has been on Lecce’s books since 2002. He spent the 2005-06 campaign at Sambenedettese.
